The Rasengan is one of the most powerful and iconic jutsu of both Naruto and Boruto. Invented by the late Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, the Rasengan is heavily inspired by the inner workings of the Tailed Beast Bomb. As Naruto Uzumaki successfully integrated various chakra natures into the jutsu the jutsu eventually reached great power and unlocked various types.

Boruto's Wind Release: The Rasengan requires extreme control
Naruto Uzumaki is the strongest Rasengan user when it comes to Wind Release-infused variants. This is one of the most difficult Rasengan variants for both young Naruto and Boruto to master, as they each need to use a shadow clone to successfully manifest and control the jutsu.
Under Kakashi's training in the anime, Boruto Uzumaki eventually learns the Wind Release: Rasengan, which he uses against Deepa despite knowing that it is incomplete and much weaker than the standard Rasengan used on the battlefield.

Lightning Release: The Vanishing Rasengan is Boruto's iconic jutsu
Boruto Uzumaki has a strong affinity for lightning releases, allowing him to subconsciously infuse his Rasengan with electricity in his first attempt to impress Sasuke Uchiha with a standard Rasengan. Although the size of the Vanishing Rasengan is much smaller than the standard Rasengan, the effects are surprisingly deadly, which says a lot about Boruto Uzumaki's potential.

Boruto's Super Compression Rasengun ignores impenetrable armors
The Super Compression Rasengan is an improved version of the Compression Rasengan. Boruto used it to penetrate Deepa's carbon armor in the anime. Like its base form, the Super Compression Rasengun is incredibly dangerous to both the user and the target. Despite its enhanced power, the Super Compression Rasengan carries serious weaknesses, severely damaging Boruto's arm.
This advanced version compresses the standard Rasengan to an extreme degree. However, Boruto was only able to execute it with the help of Mitsuki's senjutsu chakra and Sarada Uchiha, as she backed him up from behind.

Boruto's Ultra Big-Ball Rasengan requires a large chakra reserve
One of Boruto Uzumaki's early goals in the series is to reveal the Big-Ball Rasengan, just like his father, who successfully mastered it as his skills developed. However, only those with massive chakra reserves can pull it off, which initially frustrates Boruto, as he lacks the same massive chakra pool that his father did with Kurama.

The Parent and Child Rasengan is one of the most notable Rasengan variants Boruto series. Boruto first used it in the Versus Momoshiki story arc against Momoshiki Otsutsuki, with the help of Naruto Uzumaki, who greatly enhanced the power of Boruto's small Rasengan.
With Naruto's help, Boruto revealed a giant Rasengan, which acted like his Vanishing Rasengan. With this rare combination of Rasengan jutsu, Momoshiki Otsutsuki was confused and off guard, ultimately defeating him.
