Every Nintendo franchise is still missing from the Switch 2 a year later

We're a year into the life cycle of the Nintendo Switch 2, and although the list of games available for it has grown steadily after all this time, there are still a handful of pretty iconic Nintendo series that haven't gotten a moment in the sun on NSW2.

But as long as the console life cycle lasts, there's no reason to panic just yet! Nintendo knows its catalog of games, both new and old, has leagues of fans around the world waiting for their next chance to play. Hopefully, I'll be grabbing my JoyCon soon with new games in these series.

Baby Icarus

Although Nintendo is the most prominent gaming company out there these days, that doesn't mean that every game they make will have the commercial success of titles in the Mario or Zelda series. Little titles that are near and dear to gamers' hearts are everywhere throughout Nintendo's history, and one of the biggest of them all is Kid Icarus.

You've certainly seen iconic characters like Kid Icarus himself or the Goddess of Light Palutena in other hit Nintendo titles, but the Kid Icarus series has only seen a handful of games since its debut in 1986. It's high time for Nintendo to shine a new light on this cult classic.

Dr. was killed

Well, I admit that they probably all of us Dr. It needs to add a little more to the gameplay than the matching puzzles that Mario loves, which we'd love to see a medical license for someday. But Dr. With Mario on every handheld console Nintendo has launched so far, we're left with a Switch 2 game.

Dr. Mario sees you play a fast Tetris-like game, with capsule pills falling from the top of the screen to match and clear the edges of the board. It's a fun, competitive puzzle game that we can see getting a lot of love on the new generation of consoles!

Super Smash Bros

The classic arcades of the past are all gone but that doesn't mean people's passion for intense fighting games has gone anywhere! Smash Bros. Games are always competitive, and as one of the first games to enter the mainstream competitive arena, I love another chance to battle it out with my friends.

Super Smash Bros. The competitive scene around the titles has always been fierce, and since the console has so far lacked a good fighting title, it's Smash Bros. It's time to return to. While I'm not sure where to go with bringing the entire roster of fighters from every Super Smash Bros. title to date, I'm sure Nintendo will find a way to keep us fighting the bros.

The paper was killed

If the 2024 remake of the 2004 classic Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door proved one thing, it's that we'll never tire of the different ways to experience the worlds in Mario games. Debuting with Paper Mario for the Nintendo64 in 2000 and seemingly coming and going, we've been long overdue for a new Paper Mario title.

The charming 2D style still has a home on modern consoles, serving as a change of pace for the regular, over-the-top 3D Mario titles that came with the jump in console power. There have been six Paper Mario games so far, but most of us are ready for number seven on the Switch 2 someday, hopefully soon.

WarioWare

Nintendo loves a good spin-off game, and what better character to use as the mascot for a series of fast and crazy mini-games than Wario? If you like fast pace and silliness in your quick games, you're probably familiar with these collections, renowned for their memorable quirky flavor.

You are given all sorts of simple directions in these games that fly by faster and faster as the rounds go by, so the replay value in them will never be lost. Plus, now that we've got mouse functionality with the Switch 2 JoyCon, who knows what kind of fun new games Nintendo could cook up?

Pikmin

Icons of the GameCube era that earned their staying power in the years between game entries, I'd be lying if I didn't want another Pikmin game soon. These iconic, colorful little guys epitomize the pure, simple fun of Nintendo games.

You spend Pikmin games roaming fun planets, collecting all kinds of items and solving creative puzzles using your Pikmin, as different colors represent different abilities of your little friends as they interact with the world around them. The last game came out later in the life cycle of the Switch, but I'm still waiting for the Switch 2 game.

The first Mario Party title on the Nintendo64 took my family by storm when it launched, brought cartoon party game shenanigans to my life for the first time, and I've spent the last few decades straining my relationships by challenging people I love to 30-round matches in Mario Party Thunderdome.

You haven't lived until you steal someone's star and see the light in someone's eye as you sink to last place in these games. You don't know competition until you're in a mini-game with someone who needs to win so they can buy a star next turn because they Crazy right there. We deserve more than Jamboree, a port of Nintendo!

Super killed

Mario is Nintendo's flagship character, its mascot, and one of the most recognizable fictional characters in the whole. Much of what has become of the brand was built on the Super Mario games, and we're long overdue for a fun new adventure for everyone's favorite plumber!

Super Mario Odyssey was a vibrant, exciting new take on where Super Mario games could go into a new generation of console technology, featuring all sorts of great features on the Switch for the first time. With the excitement surrounding the Super Mario movies still at a fever pitch, it also seems like the perfect time to announce a new Super Mario game.

The new mainline Zelda

Nintendo certainly knew it was going to knock the 2026 gaming convention season out of the park with the last-minute trailer announcement for the Complete Ocarina of Time remake, and yet I'm definitely excited about it as a 30-something year old who's been on a roll with the new series. The Zelda timeline.

While not everyone loves the open-world style of modern Zelda games, with an Ocarina of Time remake due later this year, this would be a good time to announce that there's also a new title in the works for the Switch 2. We've gotten a mainline Zelda game on every home console so far, so it would be surprising for Nintendo not to.

Animal Crossing

Even if you weren't a fan of the Animal Crossing series before the 2020 global shutdown, I bet you fell in love with this adorable animal paradise when Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched and skyrocketed to success, almost instantly becoming Nintendo's second-best-selling game of all time (behind Del Mario 8, two Dell span consoles to earn the title).

Eight years passed between the previous game in the series, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, debuting on the Nintendo 3DS and the much-hyped launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch. And with so much love surrounding the games, a new entry in the series on Switch 2 feels like even more. when More than one type of declaration If.
