Campaign 33 is the deep and fascinating story of Lumiere, a city that has sent many desperate expeditions in an attempt to conquer Pentress. It tugs at the heartstrings right from the introduction, confronting the player with the annual Gomez and then raising the personal stakes for the campaigners who form a party of playable characters. It's one of the most touching and truly impactful stories I've played in years.
With a runtime of nearly 30 hours for the campaign, it threw me curveball after curveball, and the revelation of Pentress and other characters' true roles in the events left me speechless. For this, as refreshing and dynamic as its take on turn-based battles (there are some critical skills you'll want to prioritize to excel at them), this is a title that genre fans among Nintendo gamers will appreciate the chance to play on their favorite system. For me, though, there's a lot more that makes the game such a good potential partner for the Switch 2.

Its structure lends itself very well to combined docked/undocked play. In my PS5 playthrough, there would be some sessions where I'd spend hours teasing out secrets from a large area (and practicing parrying different types of enemies, because I was terrible at that until I really focused on getting good at the time), and others where I'd just sit on a given campaign flag for an hour, dreaming out, loading new dream abilities, fighting around.
