Gunn's adult animation has also resurrected Easter eggs thrown in by the DCU's distant cousin. Just as Disney has Mickey Mouse and McDonald's has Ronald McDonald, it seems that Ultrabunny has cemented himself as the DCU's mascot.

Despite the wealth of potential projects the new DCU could be fielding for its first few years, James Gunn thinks they'll keep it to themselves.
Who is Ultrabunny?
Characterized by a bunny with floppy ears, Ultrabunny first appeared in 2022 Suicide Squad But officially appeared in DCU canon. Animal Commando Episode 2. December 5's “The Tourmaline Necklace” exposed Indira Verma's past as a bride and her tragic backstory with Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour). As the episode jumps through history and Bride's many run-ins with Eric, a flashback to the 90s shows her wearing a black Ultrabunny T-shirt.
Gunn told BBC Radio 1 in 2021 how Ultrabunny started as a joke where he wanted to put Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag Jr. in the comedy Wile e Coyote T. Suicide Squad. Although Warner Bros. also owns Looney Tunes characters, Gunn says the studio was concerned about splattering the iconic cartoon character with blood. Added to that, he said he felt a bit 'weird' with the character:
“If it was Mickey Mouse, I would be fine, or if it was Wile E and we were making a Disney movie, I would be fine, but making a Warner Bros. movie with Wile E., I felt a little weird. Also, I was in a Wile E. movie. working, so all these different things were coming together and I wasn't sure about it.”
Instead, Gunn created an Ultrabunny and has since shared his original drawing (seen above). With Ultrabunny acting as a stand-in for Wile E. Coyote, fans can spot some similarities, such as the pair holding funny signs. For the original drawing, Gunn considered sayings like “The future is plaid” and “Elvis saves” before settling. “Opportunities are opportunities.”
How similar invincible The comics have Science Dog and Amazon's animated series had Sense Dog (blame rights issues), Ultrabunny is a fictional character that exists in the world of the DCU, e.g. Itchy and scratchy show in Simpson. Gunn has hyped the importance of Ultrabunny, posting in threads and telling fans:
Ultrabunny is one of the most famous cartoon characters in the world of the DCU. He was also seen in Peacemaker.
The fact that Gunn says 'one of the more famous' suggests that there are other cartoon characters. Has Gunn already designed his own in-world superhero team of anthropomorphic animals? At least the audience knows Superman and the rest might like kicking back with a weird cartoon after a hard day saving the world.
Observant viewers have noticed how Eric Frankenstein's ultrabunny tee differs from the one worn by Rick Flagg Jr. Suicide Squad. At that time, the flag changed to a yellow tee showing Ultrabunny holding a sign that read “obstáculos son oportunidades”. (It's Spanish for “obstacles are opportunities.”) The character unexpectedly returns when Ivan Calcaterra (Lenny Jacobson) wears an Ultrabunny T-shirt. the peacemaker Season 1, when the vigilante (Freddy Strom) has an Ultrabunny action figure on the hood of his car. Appearing on Ultrabunny Animal Commando Adds more to the canon of the DCU.

James Gunn gives the best explanation yet of how Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are DCU canon
Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are 'mostly' canon for the DCU reboot, and James Gunn offered a new explanation for how it would work.
The DCU already has its own mascot
Ultrabunny is something of a mystery, with his name and costume suggesting that he has at least some kind of superpower. There is also that his slogan was a product slogan Suicide Squad. Whether or not Gunn gives him a backstory as well remains to be seen, but as fans seem to have responded well to his inclusion, Ultrabunny has the potential to be a DCU character all his own. Also, it looks like a great opportunity for business – see how popular it is The MandalorianWho became grogu.
“Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” is expected to be the first part of an ever-expanding DCU that will add weird and wonderful characters that the DCEU never got to include, as well as some new creations. Animal Commando David Korenshwaite's Superman wasted no time in bowing to the wider world, suggesting that he at least gets a mention before the final credits roll. Given Ultrabunny's popularity, he's expected to feature in the fashion of many other characters, but what if he's destined for more?
Apart from the already packaged chapter one, Ultrabunny may feature in his own project. A full-blown Ultrabunny movie seems unlikely after Warner Bros. scrapped Wile E. Coyote at the helm. Coyote vs. Acme After this is completed, Gunn mentions his popularity as he has a plan. Plus, if Gunn can pull it off and pitch the right project to Warner Bros., an Ultrabunny outing could fill that coyote-sized hole. If not, a chain in vein. Animal Commando can also work.
There are plenty of important characters to worry about, like the casting of Batman for Gods and Monsters, as well as the hopeful arrivals of fan-favorites like Booster Gold, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman. Even if Ultrabunny is no more than a mock drawing made by Gunn because he can't use Wile E. Coyote, he could become a recurring Easter egg like Pixar's iconic Pizza Planet trucks. Still, imagine what Gunn could do with his own missteps in the animalistic Justice League homage.
