Final Fantasy 14's latest live stream reveals Chaos Alliance raids

This article covers the developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will add more information as it becomes available.

Key takeaways

  • Final Fantasy 14's latest live letter has revealed that Chaotic Alliance Raids will be introduced in patch 7.1.
  • These Alliance raids are much tougher versions of existing raids, almost like Savage raids, and require 24-man parties to tackle.
  • Right now, the only Chaos Alliance Red addition is Cloud of Darkness, although more will be added in the future if players enjoy them.

Final Fantasy 14 has a bunch of difficult content to try and overcome, requiring coordination between teammates to complete. While there's plenty of eight-man content to try, there's practically nothing for challenge chasers that involves more players. Well, that's changing in patch 7.1, with the addition of a new type of alliance raid called Chaotic Alliance raids.

As the name suggests, Chaotic Alliance Raids will be tighter versions of existing Alliance RAIDs that can be played by up to 24 people. In Final Fantasy 14 Live Letter 83, director Naoki Yoshida reveals that this new tier of Alliance Raid is much harder, more along the lines of Savage Raid, and shared several screenshots of the game's first.

Chaotic Clouds of Darkness

Right now, the only Chaotic Alliance raid that will be added is World of Darkness, a battle that almost everyone will be very familiar with. However, instead of having players run through trash to reach the final boss, this particular Chaos Alliance Raid will immediately throw players into a battle against the Raid's final boss.

At least we won't be fighting that five-headed dragon again and again.

From the shared screenshots, we can see that the battle itself will be extremely chaotic, as the name kind of suggests. This requires a lot of teamwork between alliances, so it's likely that you'll need pre-made parties to actually win the battle. Unfortunately, we didn't get any footage of the fight in action, but it looks pretty intense.

Of course, there will actually be plenty of incentive to attempt this particular Alliance Raid, as Yoshi-P explains that special rewards will be available for players who manage to complete it. He doesn't share what these rewards are, but you'd expect something pretty substantial like this armor. If these prints are popular, Yoshi-P indicates that more can be added.
