It's amazing to think this time last year we didn't even know there was an Astro Bot game just a few months away. Fast forward 12 months and not only is Astro Bot here, it's won more Game of the Year awards than any other platformer. PlayStation continues to celebrate the game's success in 2025 by releasing paper figures that you can download and print for free.
PlayStation wished its Astro Bot fanbase a Happy New Year earlier this week by releasing a short stop-motion video in which papercraft bots write holiday messages. To further celebrate Astro's success and the start of the new year, PlayStation has made the two paper stars from the video available as free PDFs for anyone to download, print and make the figures themselves. can make

Astro is naturally one of two characters from the video provided, and a Pipo monkey from the second app Escape can be seen darting across the screen at various times during the animation. The files you need to print to get started on your own Astro and Ap Escape figures can be found on PlayStation's Astro Bot Store page, but you can also find them by clicking here for Astro and here for Ap Escape Pipo Monkey.

All you need is a printer and the ability to handle papercuts
PlayStation has asked those who build their own paper figures to share their results, and some of you have already done so. The most popular option is the Papercraft Astro Pose with its matching dualsense. Those with a penchant for stop motion may want to use the figures to recreate Astro Bot's app escape level. The first of many levels in the game themed after the PlayStation series, and arguably the best, though it still beats the God of War level in my personal ranking.
Astro Bot's future is currently unclear, but considering the critical acclaim and 104 GOTY awards, it seems almost certain that we'll see the PlayStation mascot again. You might think that a new app escape game is very unlikely since it's been 20 years since the last game in the core series. However, rumors are swirling that PlayStation plans to revive some of the smaller deep-cut IPs, and App Escape would certainly fit that description.
