The quest is inside Ulbert's storage shed Gothic 1 Remake Which sends players to find Aleph and retrieve the key to open the chest Ulbert is guarding in an old mine. The hardest parts of the quest are finding Aleph and knowing how much to pay him, since giving him 50 nuggets instead of 30 gives you an extra ring of power.
This guide explains how to start Ulbert's Storage Shed Gothic 1 RemakeThe key reveals where to find Aleph, how much you have to pay him, and what's inside the chest.

Where to find Nek in Gothic 1 Remake
Find the Neck without a map, complete The Vanished Warder, and decide whether or not to give the amulet of the Dead Guard in Gothic 1 Remake.
How to start Albert's Storage Shed in Gothic 1 Remake
Before you attempt to start the Ulbert's Storage Shed quest, make sure you have some wine or beer, as you will need it to get information from Ulbert. While you can find alcohol near the carts and crates along the road, you can buy some from Dexter, an NPC who is usually found near the well inside the old camp, if needed.
Once you have some wine or beer, you should head to the Old Mine, an area northwest of the old camp. The easiest way to find an old mine is to buy a colony map from Graham at the old camp and make your way to the position marked on the map above. For more information on maps, see our How to Get a Map Gothic 1 Remake Guide.
It is recommended that you accept the Trial of Faith quest from Diego at the Old Camp before going to the Old Mine, as that quest centers around talking to Ian at that location. Additionally, you can have Graham mark the exact location of the old mine on your map when you start the Trial of Faith, though this costs some ore.
If you're trying to get to the old mine without a map, exit the old camp's north gate and cross the small bridge. Then follow the path forward and to the left. Notably, you'll encounter some wolves along the way, and you should be able to defeat them if you've followed our best starting guide.
Once you reach the old mine, follow the wooden plank paths down. This will lead you to the stairs, and you'll find Albert standing in front of the shed below. Talk to him and give him a drink to start Albert's Storage Shed quest and get your first objective: find Aleph.
Where to find Aleph in Gothic 1 Remake
Aleph is not far from Ulbert. Follow these steps to reach him:
-
Climb up the stairs you came down to reach Ulbert.
-
Follow the wooden plank path upwards until you reach a fork.
-
Go left at the fork, and follow the path behind the stairs leading to the area with Santino.
-
Climb the ladder at the end of the path, and head down until you reach the mines.
-
Look for a tall wooden structure in this area. Aleph sits next door.
Aleph will automatically start a conversation when you contact him.
How much should you pay Aleph?
Question Aleph about the key, and he'll reveal that he's willing to provide information in exchange for ore. You now have to choose how many nuggets to give, and here are the results associated with each choice:
- Give 15 nuggets: Aleph says his memory is foggy, and you have to pick again.
- Give 30 nuggets: Aleph gives you the key to the chest.
- Give 50 nuggets: Aleph gives you a chest key and a ring of power.
If you can afford it you have to pay Aleph 50 nuggets. While 30 nuggets gets you a chest key and enough to complete Albert's storage shed, paying 50 nuggets gets you a key and a ring of power. If you're short on ore, check out our how to mine ore Gothic 1 Remake Guide.
What does a ring of power do?
Ring of Power grants +5 Strength when equipped, giving me a nice boost to melee combat. This ring is especially helpful in the early game, and the 20 extra nuggets Aleph asks is a small price to pay.
How to get away from Albert Shed
After getting the key from Aleph, return to Ulbert and tell him that Ian sent you. This will complete Albert's Storage Shed quest, and you can now freely loot the chest inside the shed.
Quick save before opening the chest, just in case something goes wrong while you're looting it.
