While the wait for Grand Theft Auto 6's third trailer is clearly getting to us all, a new theory points to a license plate in a new GTA 5 screenshot that is apparently beyond its release date.
It might not feel like it considering it's been almost a year since we got the second trailer for GTA 6, but we're actually getting closer to some kind of news from Rockstar Games. Take-Two's CEO previously confirmed that marketing will begin at some point in the summer, and recent interviews have given us a few small updates to tide us over.
The question still remains, though – when exactly are we getting a new trailer for GTA 6? We won't know until Rockstar says it outright, but that doesn't stop fans from coming up with some wild guesses based on apparently minimal evidence. That happened again when a bunch of new theories appeared based on license plates in GTA Online screenshots.

You know, I'm impressed – worried, but impressed
This week's wild theory is based on a screenshot that was shared in one of Rockstar's latest Newswire posts. In the post, there is a section about the Big Minimus Energy livery, which includes a screenshot showing a GTA Online character next to the car. So far, so standard news writing post, right? Well, until you take a closer look at the license plate.
As pointed out by Twitter user GTAVI_Countdown, the most basic version of this new theory is based on the fact that there is a small sticker on the top left of the license plate that simply reads “May.” For some, this is a secret message from Rockstar hinting at when we can expect some kind of update in GTA 6.
That's already a bit of a reach, but the principle is taken even further. On the GTA 6 subreddit, SARQCLOTHINGUK suggested that the numbers and letters on the license plate actually spell May 15th. 8 and 7 make 15, KGW can be converted to GTA, 06 obviously means GTA 6, and 3 finally refers to the third. Yes, indeed.
To be fair, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect an update to GTA 6 – I don't think this license plate has anything to do with Rockstar's plans.
I honestly can't decide how far these ideas go or if I'm worried about people looking for clues in everything Rockstar does. The moon theory, Jason's watch, car Braille, and all the other GTA 6 theories that have come along should prove by now that there really aren't any clues to be found, but I guess that's all… part of the fun?
