Fortnite has now revealed that the downtime for patch v40.20 will begin at 4 AM ET. This means that the servers will be down in the early hours of April 16th. Then, a few hours later, the servers should be back online after the patch has been uploaded and everything is ready to go. Players who want to organize their playing time before the update should be aware that matchmaking is usually disabled 30 minutes before downtime. Therefore, they will not be able to enter a new game after 3:30 AM ET. As of April 16, everyone will be able to access Save the World for free. Unfortunately, they won't get free V-Bucks in Save the World once it's free-to-play, as it's only for those who pay to play.

Due to the popularity of other game modes, Save the World was put on the back burner when it came to adding new content. At this point, some players believe that Save the World is worth it just for the V-Bucks.
