Moe and Creel Construction Guide
All of Mo & Krill's abilities scale well with Spirit Power. So we'll play around for this build. With this item build and ability progression, you'll become a frontline tank that can deal insane damage while providing excellent crowd control as you approach the late-game. Here's how the build works:
Order Mo and Krill capacity
Along with Mo & Krill, Scorn is the first ability you'll want to unlock. This ability not only deals damage but also heals for a fraction of the damage it takes. Then you'll be able to trade hits with your opponent, run in close, and use Scorn to regain your lost HP. Go for Burrow as your next unlock, then Sand Blast. Unlock the combo when it's available.
For upgrades, put your initial APs into Scorn to reach level 2. This will reduce its cooldown and also give a nice boost to damage. Max out Burrow next, and once it's completely leveled, put 5 APs into Scorn. Upgrade the combo to the next max level, and after that, start putting points into Sand Blast.
Moe and Krill item progress
Since our build is focused on getting the most damage out of Mo & Krill's abilities, we'll be looking for items that increase your soul power. Mo & Krill also have one of the most powerful healing abilities DeadlockWhich also measures with soul power. So this build will turn you into a decent tank in the late game. Here are the items you'll want to pick up in Mo & Krill for this build:
Early game:
- Monster rounds
- Close the quarters
- A patient soul
- Treatment Booster
- Mysterious burst
- Infuser
- Sprint shoes
- Extra Regen
- Extra soul
Much of Mo & Krill's early game revolves around picking up items that increase his durability and deal some soul damage to the hero. But the first two items you'll want to pick up are Monster rounds and Close the quarters. Since the hero likes to get up close and personal, these two items will make you stronger for the early fights. After that, Enduring Spirit and Healing Boosters are two must-buy items for stability.
Mystic Burst and Infuser will add some much needed Spirit Power to boost your ability damage. Sprint boots come next to increase your movement speed. Finally, go for Extra Regen and Extra Spirit, and you'll be pretty inept for early skirmishes.
If you already have a good lane the extra regen can be skipped as Scorn can heal you pretty quickly.
Middle Game:
- Term extender
- Improved Cooldown
- charge the fight
- Fleetfoot
- Increase in power
- Improved soul pain pulse
- soul armor (status)
- point blank (position)
As you move into the mid-game, you should go for items that lower your cooldown so you can spam them faster during team fights. Being able to use your abilities quickly allows you to quickly clear jungle camps with Mo & Krill. The duration extender and improved cooldown are two of the absolute best items on the hero for this reason. Once you buy them, go for the melee charge. This makes your heavy melee extremely powerful once you come out of the burrow.
Fleetfoot comes next to get rid of movement penalties while shooting. After that, go for Surge of Power, Improved Spirit, and Torment Pulse to add extra Spirit Power to get more damage from your abilities. Spirit Armor and Point Blank are situational items. Only go for soul armor if you're having trouble tanking through the enemy team's soul abilities. Point blank is a natural upgrade in close quarters, and if you're playing close, it's a decent pickup at this point.
Late game:
- Superior cooldown
- High period
- Unlimited Spirit
- Echo Shard
- Spiritual overflow
- Pristine symbol
- constant motion
- Superior stamina
- Unstoppable
- Mysterious slow (situational)
- Improved Access (Status)
- Escalating Exposure (Situational)
- refresher (status)
- Siphon Bullet (positional)
- Warp Stone (Status)
For the late game, prioritize upgrades with superior cooldown and superior duration as soon as possible to reduce the cooldown of your abilities. After that, go for Boundless Spirit and Echo Shard to further boost your ability damage. Replace your cheap orange items with Spiritual Overflow and Pristine Symbols. Upgrade the Sprint Boots to Permanent Speed, get Superior Stamina, and go Unstoppable to use on your ultimate enemy hero unimpeded.
With that, your build is almost complete. However, if you still have flex inventory slots to fill, there are some good options. Mystic Slow, Improved Reach, and Escalating Exposure are great choices for Mo & Krill because of their passive effects and soul power. Refresher can be a good option, as it allows you to get out of Scorn and Burrow twice in a fight. Siphon bullets can sustain a hero well. Finally, Warp Stone can help you get to your final position quickly or even escape when things turn south.
How to play Mo & Krill in Deadlock
Scorn is your bread and butter for early game as Mo & Krill. You can use it on a Trooper wave to heal a decent bit of health when it gets too low. Try to stay close to the creeps and save the last hits to build up your spirits and get your initial items. Start playing aggressively after unlocking the first few items and your main abilities. If you are in a single lane, you can play behind the enemy creep wave to zone out the enemy. In duo lanes, you'll need to play a bit safer.
With Mystic Burst raised and Scorn level 2, you can deal massive damage while your abilities are off cooldown. You can either use this power spike to apply pressure on the enemy hero or push the lane towards the enemy tower and use your abilities to clear jungle camps more easily. Getting an early Souls lead will help you transition quickly into the mid-game.
During team fights, Mo & Krill can play early. Dive into combat using Burrow and close range with enemy heroes, use Sand Blast to disarm them, use Skarn to heal, and then combo to lock the enemy's core. Communicate with your team so they stay focused on your combo goals.
Managing to kill the hero you target with your combo ability increases your maximum health, making you a tankier as well.
With this build, your abilities are your primary source of damage. You will play close to the enemy team, learn to parry well Deadlock will be useful. Also, remember to use your Scorn when surrounded by at least two or more enemy units or heroes. This will give you extra health to play around with.
The secret to playing Mo & Krill well is knowing your limits. The hero can be extremely aggressive when all his abilities are off cooldown. However, you can still die if the enemy team manages to kite your ability and keep it away from you. In those situations, you'll want to back off and go behind cover to avoid unnecessary damage.
Mo & Krill is a fun hero to spam once you get past the initial learning curve. Although this can definitely be a difficult hero to learn, once you know how his abilities work and what makes his best item, you will have no problem winning games with this hero. Deadlock.
