How to swap motors and batteries in Forza Horizon 6
To swap the motor and battery, you need to have a compatible electric vehicle (EV) and then go to the 'Custom Upgrade' screen within the 'Car' tab from the 'Upgrade and Tuning' option in your garage when you've selected a car.
Not all EVs will actually have a 'Motor and Battery Swap' option available within the 'Body Kits and Conversions' category of the upgrade menu. I've checked out three cars that have this upgrade so you can complete this challenge. These are:
-
BMW IX XDRIVE50 (2022) – 37,000 CR
-
Wuling Hongguang Mini Ev (2022) – 5,000 CR
-
Honda e (2022) – 30,000 CR
Now go to 'Body Kits and Conversions' option and then select 'Motor and Battery Swap'. Here, you will find two different options that you can choose from. For the Honda e and Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, you will have the same two options. A 235BHP motor which costs 20,000 CR, and a 670 BHP motor which costs 75,000 CR.
Choose one of these and then press the Menu button (to the right of the Xbox button on your controller), and press it again to buy and install the parts in your basket.
The BMW IX XDRIVE50 also has two options, but they start with a 670 BHP motor costing 75,000 CR. The most expensive motor is the 1893 BHP motor costing 100,000 CR. If you're looking to do a motor and battery swap as cheaply as possible and don't care about the car or performance, I'd recommend the Wuling Hongguang Mini Ev, as it's the cheapest to buy and the cheapest motor upgrade combined.
Keep in mind that buying an upgrade will cost you some credits, so make sure you've got enough (and don't need them for anything else) before buying an upgrade.
Now all you have to do is leave the garage menus and go back to the open world. As soon as you do, you'll see a notification pop up on the right side of the screen informing you that you've completed the 'Car Upgrade – Motor and Battery Swap' challenge within the Discover Japan Stamp Book.
If you don't already have a car with the upgrade installed, you'll mark it in the ticket book and earn some Discover Japan points for it too.
