Hunter x Hunter Shuisha's Weekly Shonen Jump is one of the most beloved shonen series. Togashi's story has established itself as one of the greatest manga of all time, and it has achieved this despite the long hiatus it took after 2006 due to the author's failing health. We can't wait for these two to get back into the story and fully engage after such a long separation.

Gon and Killua officially return in Hunter x Hunter chapter 414

Gon and Killua return Hunter X Hunter Chapter 414

Hunter x Hunter Two years ago in December 2024, it went into hiatus. Fortunately, in early 2026, Togashi revealed that the story would return to Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. Finally, on June 28, 2026, Hunter x Hunter Weekly Shonen Jump returned with chapter 411 in issue #31, which marked the continuation of the Succession Tournament arc.

Since then, we've received three new chapters, and the most recent, Hunter x Hunter Chapter 414, was released this weekend on July 16, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #33. This new chapter might be the most exciting of the batch so far. In Chapter 414, fans couldn't believe their eyes, after a decade-long absence, Gon Freecs and Killua Zoldyck finally made their return.

Hunter X Hunter Killua will return

Last we saw of Gon Hunter x Hunter Chapter 345 was released on June 30, 2014, almost 12 years ago, in Shueisha's WSJ Issue #31. As for Killua, his last proper chapter appearance came in chapter 339, so he has been absent since March 12, 2012. Killua is seen leaving his sister, Alluka, to explore the world, while Gon returns to his home. Of course, no one saw this coming back, but it's one we're all incredibly excited about, especially when the future of the story is concerned.

For reference, earlier in Hunter X Hunter, it was revealed that Prince Wobble, the 14th prince who was supposed to protect Kurapika, was actually swapped with his uncle by his mother to prevent his successor from getting involved in the war. Even though Wobble is absent from the Black Whale, his life is still in danger, and Kurapika thinks about Gon and Killua. Kurapika tells Queen Oito that she has two friends who will take care of Wobble. After he says that, we are shown panels of Killua and Gon. Kurapika plans to contact them and ask them to take over the task of protecting Prince Wobble, while he handles the events of the Black Whale. While we've only seen Gon and Killua through brief panels in recent chapters, we expect more of them soon.

Gon and Killua eventually enter the succession contest as guardians of Prince Wobble

Prince Wobble is a very important character Hunter x Hunter. He was first introduced in HxH Chapter 349, which was officially released in Shuisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump issues #37-38 on August 11, 2014. Kurapika was contracted to protect the 14th prince, and he would not be weak in his task. Because of that, he knows that the two most skilled people who can protect Prince Wobble, who aren't in the Black Whale, are none other than his trusted friends Killua and Gon. Killua is currently traveling with Alluka, and Gon is still seen on Whale Island. In the new chapter, he was seen with Noko, the Togashi character revealed on one side of HxH to be his wife.

Regardless, these two will surely hear Kurapika's call and help her. At this time, Gon does not have his Nen powers, which could be problematic if he were to engage in a conflict against Nen users. However, he is still a force of nature, and with the support of Killua and Alluka, he will handle anything thrown his way.

Meanwhile, Killua has electric transmutation nen powers, and Alluka is basically a god. Hunter x Hunter A world with the power to turn anything into reality. There are no good people Kurapika can trust with the task of protecting Wobble. In the next chapter, we could potentially see more of Gon and Killua, bringing them back into the picture.

We are definitely excited to see the two most beloved main characters Hunter x Hunter Back in such a sudden way, and now, it brings back discussions about their future involvement in the story. Currently, the story is heading towards the Dark Continent, as the Black Whale ships there, but both Killua and Gon are still on the mainland. With Black Whale being away for so long, it might seem like the two won't be involved in the Dark Continent arc anytime soon. However, Togashi has already set up the perfect opportunity for them to come to the Dark Continent whenever the story calls for it.

Right now, they're probably busy with Woble, but once the Succession Tournament is over, they can join Kurapika and the others in going to the Dark Continent. All this was possible with the help of Alluka. As already stated, Alluka is one of the most broken characters in HxH. He has unlimited nen reserves, and can turn anything requested by Killua into reality. Transporting Killua and Gon to the Black Whale or directly to the Dark Continent would not be a difficult task for him. With his help, we may get back two of the most iconic characters in the story. For now, that is still far from happening, as the Succession Contest arc is still ongoing, but the climax is definitely getting closer, with each passing chapter.
