It's time to welcome Naruto and Sasuke to Boruto: The Two Blue Vortex

Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha are the two most important characters of the whole. Naruto Suffrage, and in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes. The two are at the core of the franchise, beloved by fans of all ages. That said, despite their great importance, the two were cut from the plot to allow the next generation of shinobi to flourish around the timeskip.

in Boruto Chapter 77, Naruto Uzumaki was officially sealed by Kawaki using the Daikokuten, while Sasuke was turned into a tree by Claw Grimm during the timeskip. After three long years of waiting, it's now time for Naruto and Sasuke to make a comeback, as officially featured in the post-Mamushi arc that began on June 18, 2026. In 2015 after the death of Shinju Mamushi Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 33, officially released in V-Jump Issue #6 on April 20, 2026, the return of Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha is now closer than ever. Current arc, i.e., post-Mamushi arc Boruto: Two Blue VortexesOfficially launched in Chapter 35, released on v-jump Issue #8 of June 18, 2026. This arc marked the beginning of a new confrontation with the last two remaining Shinju, with Kod also thrown into the mix. From the side of the heroes, it seems to focus on three people in particular, Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha and Kawaki.

Boruto: Sarada, I want you to let them catch you. He will probably take you straight to their base. But don't worry, I'll fly to you using those symbols I just gave you.

Sarada: I see, reverse trap.

— Boruto and Sarada star in the new Hidari arc, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35

When the Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes As the series began, it appeared that the return of both Naruto and Sasuke would have to wait for their return because there was a threat from Shinju. However, now most of them have died and Shinju Hidari is likely to be targeted in this new arc. With Shinju slowly dying one after the other, this is the perfect opportunity for Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto to officially bring back Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha.

The main reason these two were cut from the story was to empower the new generation and gain greater power. Now, it can logically be said that the new generation is even stronger than Naruto and Sasuke, especially in the case of Boruto, Sarada and Kawaki. Thus, these characters no longer need to be sidelined. They can be brought back and given their own battles to stand alongside the new generation and help guide them through their experiences. This is why Boruto's post-Mamushi arc, which officially began on June 18, 2026, is starting later, moving the story towards the eventual return of both Naruto and Sasuke.

Why Sasuke Uchiha is destined to return after the next battle vs. Hidari

Sasuke Uchiha Return Battle vs Hidari Boruto

The first of the two to return is going to be Sasuke Uchiha, and that's because Hidari Mamushi fell in the latter arc. Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes. in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Chapter 35, Hidari and Jura begin discussing the concept of love again. For the first time, Jura told the former that he would feel great sadness if he were to live in a world without him. This places a large death flag on Hidari's head and paves the way for a large power-up for Jura himself, resulting in the loss of Prem. So, in this new arc, it is very likely that Hidari will be targeted and officially killed one way or another.

Hidari: You could have collected their thorn soul bulbs if you wanted to, so why didn't you? Or, rather, why did you bring me back?

Jura: Good question. I've never thought about this issue, but recently, when I tried to imagine a world without you, I experienced feelings of sadness.

— Hidari, Foreshadowing Boruto's Death: The Two Blue Vortex Chapter #35

After Hidari was killed Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes Officially the way back is open for Sasuke. Taking Hidari's thorn soul bulb and shoving it into the tree Sasuke was locked in, the Uchiha will officially make his comeback after a long three-year wait, and we'll finally get one of the two legends back. At the same time, Jura will gain power significantly, giving Sasuke a larger role to play in later arcs to facilitate the return of Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage of Konoha.

Naruto's return is tied to Zura and Kawaki

Naruto back Zura Kawaki Boruto

Since Sasuke is officially set to return at the end of the post-Mamushi arc, we need to look at Naruto's case, which is quite unique. Technically, after the battle between Kawaki and Boruto, Naruto is unlikely to return until the end of the Boruto series. This was teased in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation Chapter #1, released on May 9, 2016, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #23. However, Zura, the strongest in Shinju, already knows Naruto's location and the fact that he is alive.

“A while ago, I went to Konoha and was shocked to learn that the Seventh Hokage had died. However, by the look in your eyes, I'm convinced that Naruto Uzumaki is still alive, isn't he?” — Jura confirms Naruto's fate, Boruto: The Two Blue Vortex Chapter #24

After Jura's power due to Hidari's death, a confrontation between him and the Seventh Hokage is very likely. It's also possible that Jura will free Naruto Uzumaki in an attempt to consume him, and this is where Naruto returns. In other words, Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto have opened up room for Naruto Uzumaki to make a comeback in the arc after the fall of Hidari.

While the implication is that Naruto will not return until the end of Boruto vs. Kawaki, the wording used by the latter is unclear. Kawaki only states that he will send Boruto to where the Seventh is, but does not explicitly say if the Seventh is still there. As such, it could simply mean that Kawaki wants to send Boruto to the Dikokuten's dimension, where the Seventh Hokage used to be. All we can do is sit patiently and wait, but with each passing chapter, the return of these two legends is getting closer. Sasuke's return is likely before the end of this ongoing arc, and Naruto's return is likely to follow in the arc after, finally giving us back two of our most beloved shinobi.

The latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex by Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto is available to read through Manga Plus and Viz Media.
