New Chaos Modifiers in Clash Royale

Umama Ali spent more time as a kid arguing with his brother over who caused the most chaos in GTA Vice City than doing homework, and he’s been unapologetically hooked on games ever since. That childhood obsession eventually became a career. After over five years writing content for a variety of sites and serving as an editor at a content agency, he joined GameRant in 2023 to finally focus on what he loves most: video games. Outside of gaming and writing, he’s a The Office superfan who will happily defend Dwight Schrute as the best sitcom character ever, and has probably memorized enough of his quotes to run his own beet farm someday.

Chaos Mode was one of the biggest surprises when it first arrived in Clash Royale. While the original was only temporary, C.H.A.O.S. has returned with a new batch of modifiers that we’ve got a full understanding of. Here are all the new Chaos Mode modifiers in Clash Royale available in July 2026, how they work, and some tips on how to best utilize them in your favor.

Clash Royale: How to Get the New Hog Rider Emote for Free

Players can now claim a free Hog Rider emote along with 30 Epic Wild Cards in Clash Royale. Here’s how you can do it.

All New Modifiers in Clash Royale’s Chaos Mode

Every card in Chaos Mode comes with three different modifiers: Common, Rare, and Epic. They all cost the same elixir as the regular version of the card, and here’s what each variant of them can do:

Three Musketeers

  • Common

    • Instead of spawning three Musketeers, the common modifier gives you four. You get an extra Muski for the same cost.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier makes the remaining Musketeers stronger whenever one of them dies. Once the first Musketeer dies, the other two start attacking faster. When the second one goes down, the last Musketeer gets another attack speed buff.
  • Epic

    • Whenever one of your Musketeers defeats an enemy troop, that troop turns into a Mini Musketeer and starts fighting for your side. They don’t have as much HP as the regular Musketeers, though.

Arrows

arrows in clash royale.

  • Common

    • Instead of one wave of Arrows, you get two. That means more damage to both troops and towers.
  • Rare

    • Instead of regular Arrows, the Rare modifier rains down mini Fireballs. It deals a lot more damage, which makes it a great answer to low-to-medium-HP troops.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier starts off like a normal Arrows spell. But right after that, it spawns an Archer Queen where you placed it. She even has her ability, so she can turn invisible and deal massive damage.

Barbarian Barrel

  • Common

    • The Common modifier simply gives the Barbarian Barrel a longer roll range. Even then, it can still be countered before reaching the tower.
  • Rare

    • Instead of one Barbarian Barrel, the Rare modifier throws three at once. Once they stop rolling, all three spawn a Barbarian.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier takes things even further by throwing six Barbarian Barrels across the arena. It almost feels like playing Royal Recruits because they cover the entire arena.

Bandit

  • Common

    • The Common modifier gives Bandit more dash range. She can dash from behind the bridge to your opponent’s Princess Tower.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier works a lot like Golden Knight. Every time Bandit defeats a troop with her dash, she immediately dashes to another nearby target. She will keep doing that until she reaches a troop that survives the dash.
  • Epic

    • Every time Bandit dashes, she creates clone Bandits for every target in range. The more enemy troops there are, the more clones appear. The only downside is that they are still clones, so they don’t survive for very long. I don’t think this modifier is as strong as it looks.

Firecracker

  • Common

    • The Common modifier gives Firecracker a bigger knockback. After she shoots, she moves back while also jumping.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier makes Firecracker split her shot into multiple projectiles. It can damage more troops, but it also makes it much easier to activate your opponent’s King Tower.
  • Epic

    • Every time Firecracker attacks, she spawns two clone Firecrackers next to herself.

Dark Prince

  • Common

    • The Common modifier is not anything special. Dark Prince charges much faster than usual, but his attack speed stays the same.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier gives the Dark Prince a new shield every time he defeats an enemy troop. He doesn’t recover any of his regular HP, but as long as he keeps getting eliminations, he will keep restoring his shield.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier gives Dark Prince three Bats when you play him. After that, every time he charges, another three Bats appear.

Heal Spirit

  • Common

    • The Common modifier lets you place Heal Spirit anywhere in the arena, including your opponent’s side.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier gives Heal Spirit a small amount of damage when it jumps. It can only eliminate low HP cards like Skeletons and Spear Goblins.
  • Epic

    • Heal Spirit’s Epic modifier spawns up to three spirits if the original Heal Spirit connects.

Elite Barbarians

  • Common

    • The Common modifier makes the Elite Barbarians throw a spear that leaves behind a Rage trail. They get the Rage effect themselves, and the spear also deals enough damage to take out low-HP troops like Firecracker and Dart Goblin.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier rewards every elimination. Whenever either Elite Barbarian gets a kill, both of them gain a level. If they keep eliminating troops, you can even reach level 20.
  • Epic

    • Instead of spawning two Elite Barbarians, the Epic modifier starts with one giant Elite Barbarian. Once he dies, he splits into the usual two Elite Barbarians. Then, when either of those dies, it turns into two regular Barbarians.

Ronin

best chaos modifier clash royale

  • Common

    • The Common modifier lets Ronin use his Parry more often by reducing its cooldown. Since Parry blocks a melee attack and sends the damage back, getting it more frequently makes the Ronin much stronger in melee matchups.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier works like Monk. When Ronin’s Parry is ready, he will reflect projectiles back at your opponent.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier gives all your troops a five-second Rage every time Ronin successfully parries an attack. If you are building a big push, this Rage can make a massive difference.

Skeleton Barrel

  • Common

    • The Common modifier adds a Bomber to the Skeleton Barrel. While the Barrel keeps flying toward the tower, the Bomber keeps throwing bombs at ground troops below.
  • Rare

    • Once the Barrel is destroyed, it spawns a Giant Skeleton along with the skeletons. Even if the Giant Skeleton doesn’t reach the tower, there’s always the threat of its bomb.
  • Epic

    • Instead of one Skeleton Barrel, it launches a whole group of them. If your opponent doesn’t have the right answer ready, all those Barrels can deal a huge amount of tower damage.

Zap

zap in clash royale.

  • Common

    • The Common modifier does more than just damage. It also lowers the target’s level by three.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier adds a Lightning spell on top of the regular Zap. For just two elixirs, it can deal with a lot of medium HP troops.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier adds extra Zaps to nearby enemies. If your opponent groups several troops together, one Zap can clear out almost all of them.

Royal Hogs

  • Common

    • The Common modifier makes each Royal Hog explode when it dies. The explosion damages both nearby troops and the Princess Tower if it’s in range.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier puts an Archer on every Royal Hog. While the Hogs attack the tower, the Archers shoot at the defending troops. However, you can still counter them easily with a spell or a card like the Rare Baby Dragon or Mega Knight.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier starts by spawning four mini Hog Riders instead of Royal Hogs. Once they die, they turn into four mini Hogs.

Skeleton Army

  • Common

    • The Common modifier replaces the usual Skeleton Army with a Graveyard. Instead of all the Skeletons appearing at once, they keep spawning over time. This means spells like the Log or Arrows can’t wipe them all out in one go.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier swaps the regular Skeletons for Skeletroopers. These Skeletroopers have more HP, and they deal landing damage too.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier is pure chaos. It creates a Graveyard that keeps spawning Skeletons.

Tesla

best new chaos modifiers clash royale

  • Common

    • The only new building we have is Tesla. The Common modifier makes it chain its attack to nearby enemies. One attack can hit up to four troops.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier lowers the level of any troop Tesla attacks. The longer a troop stays in its range, the weaker it becomes.
  • Epic

    • The Epic modifier works like a normal Tesla, but when it gets destroyed, it spawns a Goblinstein.

Inferno Dragon

  • Common

    • The Common modifier makes the Inferno Dragon reach its strongest beam much faster. Tanks won’t survive for long if it locks onto them.
  • Rare

    • The Rare modifier doubles Inferno Dragon’s range. It can start attacking from much farther away than usual.
  • Epic

    • Once the Inferno Dragon locks onto a troop, every enemy troop in the arena starts taking damage. If your opponent has built a huge push, this modifier can shut it down almost on its own.

These are all the new modifiers added to Clash Royale’s Chaos Mode. Supercell has also made a lot of changes to older modifiers instead of only adding new ones.

Barb Hut’s Elite Barbarians modifier and Furnace’s spirit modifier have both been nerfed. X-Bow’s Sparky shot modifier is also weaker now. Cards like Fireball, Electro Wizard, Rocket, and many others have received reworks.

What’s the Best Modifier in Clash Royale’s Chaos Mode Right Now?

best new chaos modifiers clash royale

If I had to pick one card, I’d probably go with Skeleton Barrel. Both its Rare and Epic modifiers are incredibly strong. The Rare one turns the destroyed Barrel into a Giant Skeleton, and the Epic one launches a whole wave of Skeleton Barrels instead of just one.

Three Musketeers is another card that’s going to be a nightmare to deal with. Its Epic modifier turns every troop it defeats into a Mini Musketeer. It will be a great reply to swarm troops.

I’d also keep an eye on Arrows. Spawning a full Archer Queen after using a three-elixir spell is just ridiculous. I think its ability is going to win a lot of matches on its own. Inferno Dragon’s Epic modifier is also looking powerful. I’m definitely looking forward to trying that one.

Supercell won’t be releasing every Chaos card and modifier on day one. The mode will roll out in three phases, with more cards and modifiers becoming available in each phase.
