One thing that immediately stands out about Marvel Token: Fighting Souls, compared to Marvel vs. Capcom or other Marvel-licensed video games, is the Japanese influence woven through the design and behavior of the heroes and villains.
If it wasn't abundantly clear from all those various trailers, Iron Man's suit is a direct nod to Mobile Suit Gundam, specifically the RX-78-2 Gundam, AKA the “Granddaddy” Gundam, or the first design.
As shared on the official Tokon: Fighting Souls social media page, Iron Man upgrades his suit with “Japanese Engineered Technology: Iron Man Armor Mk.782 Sho-Gun.”
Space out the 782, and you get 78-2, the name of the original Gundam.

Tribute Games' Frederick James shares how Universe Invasion began, the challenges of creating such a stacked roster, and its possible future.
If that wasn't enough, Iron Man has a V-fin on both his helmet and arc reactor, the same type of V-fin that adorns every Gundam.
While Tokon: Fighting Souls will have several costumes, plus DLC, it will be fascinating to see if any of the alternate colorways match any of the various mechas throughout Mobile Suit Gundam's history.
Marvel Token: Fighting Souls is looking to be a unique fighter
Although it took a while for more characters to be announced, Tokon: Fighting Souls let the cat out of the bag with multiple roster announcements including the Hulk, Penny Parker, Black Panther (Shuri) and the X-Men.
There is also great hope that Carnage, not Venom, will be the next character added to the game. The evidence to suggest this is very strong, all things considered.
On top of that, it will have a 10-hour story mode with more than just the comic book scenes promised by the makers.
“In Episode Mode, there are playable battles included throughout,” said producer Takeshi Yamanaka. “Battles connected to the story unfold, and it's designed so that anyone can enjoy it casually, like reading a comic, allowing for a more interactive experience of the story,” confirmed Yamanaka.
All in all, the wait till August 6 is definitely going to be tough, especially as more and more are revealed.
