Magic: The Gathering's newest Secret Layer drop, one of the most highly anticipated of the year, players have lost their place in the queue and the product is already sold out. Today is October 13th and after the multi-IP crossover that was Secret Layer SuperDrop on PlayStation, another hyped-up Secret Layer Drop has been released. MTG Cards on October 27th. This time, players are trying to get the Secret Layer Countdown Kit: Encyclopedia of Magic, which includes 26 cards for $199.
There is usually a lot of success among special secret layer products MTG Players, however their trajectory has been very rocky in recent times. That's because the drops aren't printed on demand, which means it's a first-come, first-served kind of deal. Bot accounts buy products to resell them later, MTGThe PlayStation Secret Layer already proved controversial, not to mention last year's Marvel drop. Now, getting an encyclopedia of magic is already impossible.

MTG Commander decks would have greatly benefited from the new Secret Layer Encyclopedia product, many of these cards are already staples in the format, but unfortunately the deal fell through. Moreover, many community members are already worried that they may have lost their place in the queue when there were technical difficulties, which delayed the launch of the drop by 30 minutes.
Responses to the Twitter post announcing the 30-minute delay were mostly negative, with fans calling for a print recall to demand all Secret Layer products. Others are bemoaning the fact that Secret Layer products are notoriously bought by bot accounts who then sell them on websites like eBay, TCGPlayer, Cardmarket, and the like for double the price.
Secret Lair's Encyclopedia of Magic is unfortunately now impossible to reach beyond resellers, so those who spend their time queuing only to be met with a message that the product is sold out will walk out empty-handed. This isn't a new problem, but it's even more staggering when you consider the technical difficulties that have caused some fans to lose their spot in line and others to have better or worse spots in it.
