Pokemon Lego Smart Brick Sets featuring Gengar and Jigglypuff Leek

Even more images of unannounced Pokemon Lego sets have found their way into the wild. Three of them this time, all looking much smaller than the ones we already have, but all equipped with Lego's new Smart Brick tech.

First shared by BrickTapNews, called the three sets Cubone and Gengar's gruesome showdown, Charmander and Geodude's Cavern Clashand The Jigglypuff Concert. Pokemon in sets are not minifigures. They will be made from bricks, but much less so than the likes of Eevee and Pikachu from the first wave of Pokemon sets released earlier this year.

You can now build Lego's Pokemon Gym Badge Set without spending $650.

Lego is sharing its Kanto badges with everyone after tying them to its most expensive Pokemon set.

While the exact piece counts cannot be seen, the images confirm what the sets will look like when completed, and they will be the first Lego sets outside of Lego's Star Wars builds to use the Smart Brick. Unveiled earlier this year, the Smart Brick is a piece of Lego that connects to compatible sets to make them interactive, or at least more interactive than Lego already is.

In the Star Wars sets, the Smart Brick reacts to square tag pieces — like those featured on the packaging of these leaked Pokemon sets — and makes sounds and sets off flashing lights. Brick will probably have the same effect on Pokemon sets. A Jigglypuff build, for example, is almost certainly going to be able to sing.

The other two sets appear to be battle-themed, so I can only assume we'll get Pokemon crying and fighting sounds when their Smart Bricks enter the vicinity of the various tags that will be included in the set. The only downside to these leaks, along with the Arcanine build that's also coming our way this August, is that it looks like Lego still has no plans to leave the Kanto region.

Lego's leak also doesn't include Pokemon beyond the original 151

No, even with five more Pokemon set to enter the arena on any given day, Lego's Pokemon focus remains on Gen 1. It's annoying for people who have always stuck to praising those original 151 Pokemon, unfortunately, but it makes sense at this early stage of Pokemon and Lego's relationship.

Pokemon from those original games continues to gain Luxray-share of business because it appeals to all Pokemon fans. Everyone from the 30-somethings who first played a Pokemon game in the late 90s—especially fans returning to the hobby—to kids who want everything related to Pokemon, no matter what monsters are featured.

There's still hope that the next time we hear something official about Pokemon Lego, it will include something created after Gen 1, and it's thanks to these latest leaks. An earlier leak, one before any Pokemon LEGO sets were even released, claimed that we'd be getting Gengar vs. Cubone and Charmander vs. Geodude sets this summer. The same leak also mentioned Scorbunny and Riolu's specialty sets, and those sets feel much closer to being real, now that images of those Gen 1 battle sets have been leaked.
