Zero again. Now, Subaru is ready to conquer the library, but the trials waiting inside may break him first.

Re:Zero Season 4 Episode 4 finally allows Subaru and Shoula to talk to each other. After Shaula saves Subaru from the Hungry Horse King in the third episode, he welcomes him to the Pleiades Watchtower as his long-lost master. Surprisingly, Shaula believes that Subaru is her boss because they look alike but they smell the same to her.

Meanwhile, Subaru's group is finally reunited, thanks to Shaula's efforts. Rem and Patrasche are also safe within the tower under the care of healing spirits. Unfortunately, the spirits cannot heal Rem because her condition is not an illness or injury. Subaru asks Rama to take care of her sister and Patrashe before climbing the tower with the rest of the group.

Master! I've been waiting so long! – Shaula to Subaru

To ensure everyone's safety, Subaru forces Shoula to make a promise to him. Shaula promises not to harm anyone from Subaru's group. However, Subaru remains uneasy about Shaula, knowing that their bond rests solely on his belief that she is the same person as his master. If Shaula discovers the truth that Subaru is not Flugel, there is no telling what will happen to them inside the Watchtower.

Flugel owns Shaula, the same man who built the Pleiades Watchtower that serves as an observation point for intruders looking for the sealing stone where the mysterious witch of Jealousy is confined. The Watchtower is also a library, where Subaru and his friends can find everything they need and want to know.

Unfortunately, Flugel has been missing for 400 years now, leaving Saul to watch alone in the tower. She's been alone all this time, shooting intruders like Subaru with her Hellshot to protect the tower as ordered by Flugel. As mentioned, Shaula believes Flugel and Subaru Natsuki to be the same person, at least for now, allowing Subaru to climb the watchtower without suffering a brutal death.

Did Subaru pass the third floor test?

The third floor of the Pleiades Watchtower Library is known as Taygeta. It is a white room that, according to Julius, robs Subaru of his sense of balance, in which he dwells for so long. And according to Shaula, only those qualified to enter the archives can pass the difficult test on the third floor.

Inside the white room, Subaru discovers a lone monolith that, once touched, multiplies into countless others, posing a riddle-like question. This Subaru wants to be named after the hero that Shaula conquered with “greatest glory”. Except for Subaru, other groups could not give a proper answer. Shortly after Subaru observed the monoliths from above, he immediately knew the answer to the question.

Only those who know about constellations or stars can answer the question, meaning Subaru is the only one capable of solving the riddle. The correct answer is Rigel, the brightest star in the constellation Orion. As it turns out, the question is referring not to Shaula, the keeper of the watchtower, but to Shaula, the scorpion that kills Orion, the hero in the story. Just like that, Subaru passes the third floor trial and moves on with the rest of the group.
