Resident Evil Requiem adds a new DLC Mini-Game

If you need another reason to revisit Resident Evil Requiem, then Capcom has just the thing for you, as the developer has teased a new mini-game mode, titled “Leon Must Die Forever.”

It's free, and it's available now, if you've already beaten Requiem's main campaign.

Capcom previously teased the existence of the new game mode, with its director, Koshi Nakanishi, and producer, Masato Kumazawa, urging fans to make sure they completed the game during Golden Week.

True to their word, the mode has declined.

The official YouTube trailer description is as follows:

Unlocked by completing the story, this additional mini-game mode challenges you to clear as many stages as Leon while unlocking special power-ups. The fast-paced action is different from the main story mode, and is packed with replay value. Can you make it to the end alive and defeat the boss within the time limit?

Several difficulty levels are available, including an extreme high-difficulty mode for only the most confident players. True to the title, you will “die forever”…

As Vice noted in its write-up, players will go through 20 levels before reaching the final boss battle against Victor. It is almost roguelike in its approach, death is permanent and the weapons and abilities you have access to are completely random. The further you go, the more difficult it becomes.

Leon deflates a chainsaw with his hatchet in Resident Evil Requiem.

The final puzzle in Resident Evil Requiem is a video game mystery that's well worth liking

Players have finally gotten to the bottom of the final puzzle of Resident Evil Requiem.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Capcom has added a post-launch mode featuring the “Must Die” tagline.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard had a similar mode titled “Ethan Must Die”, where players must navigate a house with a random supply of weapons and items, a limited space and dozens of traps and a molded house before facing off against Marguerite.

Similarly, the shadow village in Resident Evil Village has already made for a very difficult title.

In other words, Capcom likes to inflict pain and see who among us is brave and skilled enough to overcome the tough Resident Evil experiences.

Even with the addition of “Leon Must Die Forever”, there is still more content in the pipeline for Requiem, including actual DLC. For now, we have freebies and fun.
