In the latest episode of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood WarShunsui Kyoraku, the newly appointed captain commander of the Gotei 13, goes to an underground prison under the barracks of Squad 1, Muken. There, while her best friend Captain Ukitake makes a deal with a god, Mimigahi, to save the Spirit Society, Shunsui makes a deal with the devil, Sousuke Aizen. Before releasing him from his seal, Kyoraku speaks with Aizen to ask him to assist the Gotei 13 in the battle with Yowatch. Shunsui knows there is no one as powerful as Aizen besides Ichigo, and they need all the help they can get.

It has been two years since Aizen was sealed away after his epic battle against Dangai Ichigo at the hands of Kisuke Urahara. And yet, he's still on a completely different level than anyone on the battlefield besides Ichigo and Yowatch. Aizen has always been a level above the regular Shinigami, his fusion with the Hogyuku giving him power beyond anyone else in the world. Bleach.

An anomaly, an existence beyond any other

When Sousuke Aizen was born, the balance of spirits was disturbed. Aizen is, in every sense of the word, an anomaly. He should not exist. Already born, he was way beyond any other shinigami. But he knew how to hide it, and he enrolled in the Shinigami Academy and joined the Gotei 13, serving as the vice-captain of Squad 5 under Shinji Hirako. After his holoification experiments ruined the lives of the shinigami who would become Wizarded, Aizen became the captain of Squad 5, and later Momo Hinamori became his vice-captain. Using his Zanpakutou, Kyouka Suigetsu, he faked his death and betrayed the Gotei 13, killing every member of the Central 46. He retrieved his Hogyouku and escaped to Hueco Mundo with captains Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tosen.

From the beginning, no one has stood in heaven. Not you, not me, not the gods. However, that unbearable emptiness has ended. From now on…I will stand in heaven.

In a battle with the Gotei 13 at the Fake Karakura Town Arc, Aizen easily defeated all members of the force except former captain-commander Yamamoto. All this without having to use complex Kidou techniques, which he is an expert at, or if he even has Bankai. The only enemy Aizen saw close to him in terms of power was Yamamoto, and he created an experimental Arrencar called Wonderweiss Margera to deal with him.

He then begins to evolve into a superior being, fusing with the Hogyuku. He fights Urahara, Isin Kurosaki, and Yoruichi Shihouin with ease, all while transforming. After he reaches a new stage of evolution, his power is so great that it completely destroys any human who comes near him. After being betrayed by Jin Ichimaru, he evolves once more, and when fighting the newly evolved Ichigo, he undergoes a final, monstrous transformation. He was defeated by Ichigo's Final Getsuga Tensho: Mugetsu. And yet, he lives. He is sealed away by Urahara, and the New Central 46 sentences him to 18,800 years in Muken.

There, Aizen remained fused with the Hogyouku, quietly refining his power, completely abandoning the physical form of his Zanpakutou, Kyouka Suigetsu. When Yowatch visited him during the first Quincy attack, he was able to use the Zanpakutou's powers just by looking at Yowatch. Aizen has become one with his Zanpakutou and Hogyouku.

Invincible and overwhelming

Thanks to his fusion with the Hogyouku and his superior evolution, Sousuke Aizen is the most powerful Shinigami in existence aside from Ichigo Kurosaki, a completely different case. Aizen can easily manifest his power without needing to release his Shikai. His mastery of Kido has also increased. He is able to cast extremely powerful Kidou spells without any spells. Such as Hadou 99: Kurohitsugi (Black Box) and Hadou 99: Goryuutenmetsu (Five Swirling Dragons of Destruction), one of Bleach's most powerful techniques.

Besides his immense power, he is effectively immortal and indestructible. He can withstand any injury and survive. Aizen would have to be hit with divine power to sustain significant damage or near death. Thanks to the Hogyouku, Aizen's already extraordinary power tripled. When a Muken guard approached Aizen to stop him, his arm was broken as he approached. Aizen's spiritual pressure is so dense and powerful that anyone who comes near him dies instantly. The seals don't remove his spiritual pressure, they just keep it close to him.

Shunsui undid only three marks on Aizen: the mouth, the left eye, and the leg. Which means most of Aizen's body is still locked up. This is only part of his full power. Yhwach previously revealed that Aizen is one of the special battle threats. This is due to Aizen's almost infinite power and spiritual pressure. He is invincible, fused with Hogyouku, combined with his Zanpakutou, and an enhanced version of his best evolution.
