Following Fox McCloud's appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy movie and the subsequent reveal of Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2, the character's designer, Takaya Imamura, has expressed great pride in the series he helped shape.
Now, with the new Nintendo Direct just hours away, Imamura has shared his wish list of games he'd love to see at Nintendo's premiere showcase, and, surprisingly, it includes two Star Fox titles and the new Legend of Zelda.
Star Fox Creator Wants More Star Fox, Zelda, and Monster Hunter in Today's Nintendo Direct
Imamura revealedWhile he did not receive any special treatment or advance access He cried at the screening of the Super Mario Galaxy movie, his character debuting on the big screen. Then Star Fox Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed.
Imamura once again revealed that he was not consulted during the remake's design process and that he prefers the movie version of the character, but admitted that he imagined it while helping to create the original game.
Ahead of today's Nintendo Direct, Imamura has taken to social media to share his wish list, and there are some bangers.
“Star Fox additional information, new Zelda titles, new footage for Monster Hunter Wilds, and Star Fox Adventures and Invasion streaming will also be announced,” he said. “Honestly, at that point, I'm sure I'll be so overwhelmed with emotion I'll lose control of my bladder.”
This is a great list and I, as a huge Zelda and Star Fox fan, would really appreciate it. Throw in a new 3D Super Mario game, and with the reveal of Persona 6, this would have been the perfect Summer Game Fest week for me.
I stand by the fact that Star Fox Adventures is an underrated game, slammed simply because it bears the Star Fox name. A Nintendo 64 game originally called Dinosaur Planet, Star Fox Adventures transported McCloud to a mysterious world, which he traveled on foot rather than in his trusty Arwing.
We didn't have long to wait until Star Fox released on Nintendo Switch 2, and our writer Josh Coulson went hands-on with the title last month. He loved his time with it, saying, “Star Fox on Switch 2 is blowing away fans of the original game, while giving a whole new generation a polished version of the classic to fall in love with like you did years ago.”
