Ghibli is one of the most popular names within the anime industry. It is responsible for creating many projects like Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and The Boy and Heron, etc., all of which have gone on to become all-time classics. Naturally, whenever Studio Ghibli gets involved in something, it always attracts the attention of anime fans.

Not only is Studio Ghibli working on a new project, they're currently hiring people to work on it.
Ghibli is working on a new short film
According to a new report, Studio Ghibli is working on “Majo no Tani no Yoru” or “A Night in the Witches Valley”. It is an original short film directed by Goro Miyazaki and Akihiko Yamashita. The story is set in the “Valley of Witches” area of Ghibli Park. Additionally, it has been confirmed to begin screening at Ghibli's Grand Warehouse on July 8, 2026.
Goro Miyazaki is the son of the legendary Hayao Miyazaki and has already been involved in several projects. He has directed Earwig and the Witch, From Up on Poppy Hill, and Tales from Earthsea. Goro Miyazaki also served as an executive producer on the Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron.
So, it is clear that Goro Miyazaki is an experienced director and, as such, he will do his best to make A Night in the Witches Valley a hit.
Ghibli is making a comeback after a long time
After the release of The Boy and the Heron in 2023, there was a period of silence where there was hardly any news about what Studio Ghibli might be working on. Longtime Ghibli fans were worried, especially after Hayao Miyazaki stepped down from his role.
With the new report, they can rest easy. However, the studio is going to screen the movie only in Ghibli Park. So, it may be a while before Western audiences get a chance to see A Night in the Witch Valley.
