Lego It has officially announced its long-awaited announcement ET Set. Based on Steven Spielberg's iconic 1982 film, LEGO's latest licensed product is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2026.
As is often the case with the company's models, Lego's ET set was leaked ahead of its announcement, via a packaging photo. However, even that leak didn't completely detract from the set's main selling point: its immense posing potential.

6 More 2027 LEGO Sets Detailed in New Leak
Details for half a dozen 2027 LEGO sets leak online, describing new original models and sets based on popular IPs like Harry Potter and Zootopia.
Announced on July 3, LEGO's new ET. The set immortalizes the titular extraterrestrial with a massive brick-built replica that's high potential even by the Danish toymaker's flagship production standards. The 1,226-piece construction features a fully articulated neck that can rotate 360 degrees, an opening mouth, and detailed hands with rotating shoulders and wrists and fingers. Identified by product number 21370, the ET The Extra-Terrestrial set is scheduled for release as part of LEGO's August 1 wave.

Beyond its articulation, the model includes several performance features that recreate some of the recognizable imagery from Spielberg's iconic film. ET can be posed with an extended finger, referencing the famous “phone home” gesture, while an included pot of sunflowers nods to a scene where he revives wilting flowers. The set costs $139.99 and is available for pre-order through LEGO's online store. LEGO is limiting 21370 ET purchases to three per customer, a standard anti-scalping measure for new releases that are expected to see significant demand.
The newly announced set also includes a built-in light brick that can be activated from behind, making ET's heart glow. It should not be confused with Lego's Smart Play platform, which is a more sophisticated system that integrates NFC sensors, speakers, and configurable lights into a single smart brick. In contrast, the 21370 ET set uses a simple battery-powered component that emits a red light when switched on, mimicking the alien's glowing heart in its default configuration. Long before LEGO officially revealed the Smart Play platform in January 2026, the company used light-emitting bricks in sets like the 6783 Sonar Transmitting Cruiser, first released in 1986. Included in the package are the two LR41 batteries needed to power the ET's heart.

21370 ET originated as a fan design submitted to the LEGO Ideas platform rather than as one of the extra-terrestrial toymaker's internal concepts. It was first submitted in April 2023 and took nearly two years to reach the 10,000-vote milestone needed to qualify for LEGO Review. After being selected as an official concept product in October 2025, the set underwent a customization process led by LEGO's designers. The final model is remarkably similar to the original concept, with differences mostly limited to specific piece choices, presumably to support easier manufacturing.
