Although he is an incredibly powerful warrior, Piccolo's true strength shines as a strategist, as he often uses his incredible intelligence to devise plans on the spot. A great example of this was when he used his amazing Hellzone Grenade against Android 17, showing just how combative he can be.

Essentially, this technique shows Piccolo firing several individual balls of Ki which then surround his opponent instead of hitting them head-on. By completely surrounding his enemy, Piccolo leaves them no room to escape, eventually landing each of those shots on them and dealing incredible damage.

The Light Grenade is an extremely powerful single-shot

While the Hellzone Grenade is a tactical trap to ensure that his opponent is unable to escape, the Light Grenade is a single-shot technique that packs a ton of Piccolo's energy. By focusing all of his Ki into a single point, he unleashes an attack that trades the piercing power of his signature attack for pure offensive force, similar to the Big Bang Attack.

Although this attack failed against Cell when Piccolo initially used it, he would try it again in the Moro arc. However, this variation of the technique was thousands of times stronger, to the point where, if it had worked, it would have killed Piccolo as well, as it used up all of his energy.
