According to HolyMatrignomey, their wife picked up a shared keyboard from Amazon, and then went to work hand-painting the keys with their favorite Pokemon. Besides many pocket monsters, some keys also feature Pokemon Iconography, such as Pokeball's iconic red, black and white on some keys, as well as Pokémon Gym badges on the function keys. The effort shows the love the two have for each other, and also took a lot of talent considering the small size of the keyboard keys and the detailed work that went into each one.

HolyMatrignomey noted that some of the keywords are words, and users have gone to work figuring them out. Some of them include Shiftry on the Shift keys, Clefairy on the Space key, acknowledging its otherworldly origins, Entei on enter, and some simple characters like Onix on the O key or Jolteon on the J key. Players also found puns where they weren't intended, noting that Snorlax, one of Hollymatrignomy's favorites, worked perfectly as a caps lock key, turning it into a “snor-lock” key.
Some users expressed concern that the hard work that went into customizing keyboard keys could be detrimental to actually using them. HolyMatrignomey responded that they didn't really want to use the keyboard, and were going to put it on display. However, their wife wrote off this possibility, as they put protective layers on the keys to help keep the colors from fading with use.
