A new feature has been added Analog 3DFinally allowing users to create save states for their games. Analog 3D is a retro gaming system that allows users to play their old N64 cartridges in 4K. Not only is the system compatible with older cartridges, but it can also work with original controllers, as well as N64 peripherals such as the Rumble Pak and Controller Pak.
Analog 3D was delayed several times but finally released in 2025. Reception of the system has been largely positive, as have many of the company's other products. However, Analog has taken some time to deliver some of the features that were first announced, leaving fans looking forward to the best possible N64 experience.

Rare Nintendo 64 games can set collectors back thousands of dollars, and here are the most expensive N64 titles in 2026.
Analog 3D finally offers save states
After updating the system software to 3DOS v1.3.0, Analog 3D systems will now have the memory feature unlocked. This feature has two main benefits: users can now save their in-game progress at any time, and they can also save any save data at risk of being lost due to the death of the cartridge's built-in battery. This is a very real concern when it comes to older games, because those batteries were made to last so long. If players have data that is really important to them, it can now be saved in the system.

The dedicated Nintendo Classics app on the Switch has a number of older N64 games that can be played, but some of the app's titles have deals from the original versions. For example, the Pokemon Stadium The games do not allow players to transfer Pokemon. That was the central hook Stadium Games in the first place, and the feature still works in analog 3D, if users have a Game Boy game and Transfer Pak. Even if the owners have their old copy Pokemon StadiumThe save state feature will ensure that players do not lose their progress in the Gym Leader Castle, or anything else they achieved in the original game.
The N64 played host to a large library of games, such as the classics Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye 007and Super Mario 64. All of those games are playable through Nintendo Switch Online, but there are many others that will never be released on the subscription service. The fact of the matter is, licensing issues often make it difficult for older games to get a second release. The N64 had a lot of high-quality licensed games, and Nintendo had to jump through some expensive hoops to get them to the Switch. An excellent choice for those who want to experience the full depth of an analog 3D system.
