Demon Slayer Has become one of the faces of anime worldwide in the modern era. It was always popular, thanks to the incredible TV anime by Ufotable Studio, but its biggest success was with the latest animated movie, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 – Return of Akaja. Records were broken in Japan and worldwide, and the next movies, Infinity Castle Parts 2 and 3, are expected to be even bigger and feature higher stakes with more action.
With Akaja down, the demon slayers, especially Hashira, still have greater threats to face. Upper Rank 2 Doma, Upper Rank 1 Kokushibo, and the Demon King, Muzan, are alive and kicking. These enemies are very powerful, and Hashira will have to tap into the three ultimate abilities of the demon slayers to have a shot at beating them. These powers are the Bright Red Nichirin Blade, the Translucent World, and the Demon Slayer Mark.
Demon Slayer's Hasira will be powered up with 3 new abilities in the upcoming Infinity Castle Part 2 and 3 releases
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza's Return had a grand premiere in Japan in July 2025. In this movie, we see the Demon Slayers finally break into Infinity Castle and begin the final confrontation between humanity and demons. Notably, Giyu and Tanjiro took on Akaza, while Shinobu took on Doma and Genitsu took on Kaigaku. Kaigaku and Akaza are now down, but there are still three major monsters to defeat. There will be three major threats to face in the upcoming Infinity Castle Part 2 release:
To overcome these challenges, all fighters must increase in strength, especially Hashira, who makes up the bulk of the main fighting force possessed by the corps. These new upgrades are now officially in line for the second and third movie Demon Slayers set for release in 2027 and 2029.
The bright red Nichirin will be used by Gyomei, Muichiro, Obanai, Giyu and Sanemi.
To take on demons, demon slayers, including Hasira, use special blades known as nichirin swords. These swords were forged with scarlet crimson iron sand and scarlet ore and are the only weapons capable of cutting off the heads of demons and killing them. While Nichirin himself has powerful weapons, there is a way for a demon slayer to upgrade his power and become even more deadly against demons. This upgrade is called Bright Red Nichirin, and is a power-up reserved for certain Hashira in the final arc of Demon Slayer. This power turns the blade red, and when a monster stabs it, they struggle to regenerate.
To obtain a bright red nichirin, one must heat the blade. This can be through ignition or friction, and between Hashira, we're set to see Gyomei, Muichiro, Obanai, Giyu, and Sanemi unlock it. Among them, Muichiro would be the first to tap into this power against Kokushibo. In the manga, Muichiro goes to save the day in Demon Slayer chapter 175, which was released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #43 on September 21, 2019. This allows Sanemi and Gyomei to unlock the Red Nichirin for cutting off Kokushibo's head in the same chapter. Against Muzan, Giyu and Obanai will also tap into this power, along with Gyomei and Sanemi. It is a decisive power to stop Muzan and protect yourself.
“His blade is turning red? What is it?! My body is hardening! It hurts! My insides are on fire! The technique won't come out! This tree has sprouted from me?! This trunk must have grown from drinking my blood! And this pain! It's hardening my body! It's because of the word like Red Blaze! Yorichi's…” Kokushibo after being stabbed by Muichiro's Bright Red Nichirin in Demon Slayer Chapter 175
The transparent world will be taken over by Gyomei, Muichiro, and Obanai
Bright Red Nichirin is a fantastic power-up we've been waiting to see, but it's not the only one in store for the Demon Slayer's Hashira. Another capability we highlighted Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 That is the transparent world. As we saw in the first Demon Slayer movie, the translucent world allows a character to see through their enemy's body, as if they were transparent or using X-ray vision. With this superior perception, one can predict movements and anticipate attacks, as well as detect weak points to strike.
In the first film, Tanjiro remembers his father and taps into it. However, he is not the only one who takes advantage of it. Three Hashira are also eagerly waiting to unlock this powerful ability. In Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2, Gyomei, the most experienced Hashira, will unlock this power when he fights Kokushibo. In the manga, we saw this development in Demon Slayer chapter 173 in WSJ issue #41 of September 9, 2019. Once again, after that, Muichiro, Demon Slayer's prodigy of Hashira, would tap into this power against Kokushibo in Chapter 173 as well.
Along with these two, Obanai will also unlock the Transcendent World, but against Muzan in the final battle. For a brief moment in Demon Slayer Chapter 191, Obanai could see the transparent world, but at that point, it was already too late as he sustained a massive attack that pushed him back.
The Demon Slayer Mark will be awakened by all remaining Hashira in Infinity Castle Part 2 and 3
Fans watching Demon Slayer The concept of the Demon Slayer Mark is already well known. Some Hashira already have it, but some others have yet to unlock it. Muichiro and Mitsuri have already unlocked their Demon Slayer Marks in Demon Slayer Season 3. Giyu also unlocked his own mark in the first Infinity Castle movie against Akaja. At the end of the story, all Hasira who are involved and currently alive go on to unlock this power.
The Demon Slayer Mark gives a significant boost to all of the Slayer's attributes, and is unlocked in very intense situations. However, it is said that this power-up comes with its own downside, causing its user to die at the age of 25, or die after a battle if the Slayer is already above that age. In Infinity Castle Part 2, we will see this power unlocked by Gyomei and Sanemi. In the manga, Gyomei unlocks it at the end of Demon Slayer chapter 169 as she prepares to go all out against Kokushibo, while Sanemi unlocks it in Demon Slayer chapter 170 after suffering a heavy injury from an upper rank 1. It had to be said that Mitsuri had seen him use it against her for a long time in battle. The reason is not known. With all these powers, the demon slayers will prevail against the demons and finally free humanity from Muzan.
We are all eagerly awaiting the release of the next Demon Slayer movie, and reports indicate that it will finally arrive in 2027.
