The Pokemon Company likes to give its fans a project. That project could complete a Pokédex by catching hundreds of Pokémon, or building a Lego set that requires about 7,000 pieces. A recent example really kicks things up a notch as a jigsaw puzzle is revealed to be made up of over 40,000 pieces.
A Pokemon puzzle in a league of its own
Created in collaboration with tabletop specialists Ravensburger, the Pokemon Celebration Journey puzzle is available to pre-order now, but you might want to check your bank account before committing to buying one. Not only is Jigsaw bigger than the Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise Lego set, but it's also more expensive, with an MSRP of $729.99.
Money isn't the only thing you'll need a lot of if you want to make one of these puzzles your own. There is also room for consideration. The exact number of pieces in the new Pokemon puzzle is 40,320. Once completed, it will be a full 268 inches long. That's over 22 feet. Most living rooms will not be large enough to house this animal, even if you rid them of all that annoying furniture.
The Celebration Journey puzzle combines ten scenes loaded with Pokemon
The puzzle is divided into ten sections so, in theory, you could divide it into ten individual puzzles to make them easier to perform. Each of those ten frames is filled with so many Pokemon that a significant portion of the 1,025 that make up the National Dex are likely celebrated, though there seem to be exceptions.
Each panel has a different theme for the most part, waiting to find matching Pokemon. Mook and Magnetons are hanging around what looks like an abandoned power plant, for example, Clefable, Steelix and Zubat are hiding in the cave section of this giant jigsaw puzzle.
Ravensburger has even doubled in some instances. Pikachu and Eeveelutions make several appearances.
If you have the money, the space, and let's be honest, the patience and time to complete a 40,000-piece Pokemon puzzle, you can pre-order the Celebration Journey jigsaw on Amazon right now for $729.99. It won't be officially released until October 7th, 2026, and I'm guessing you'll be putting it together over the holidays and well into 2027.
If you want to build something Pokemon-themed sooner than that, and pay a lot less, 15 more Pokemon LEGO sets will be released on August 1. The very popular Poke Ball set is also set to be released later this year which will feature Pokemon minifigures for the first time.
