The Sparking Zero Fan adds one of Dragon Ball Z Budokai's most infamous fusions

summary

  • Dragon Ball: Sparking! The Zero mod community doesn't sleep, because after adding the likes of GT Vegeta and Black Frieza, one of the franchise's most cursed fusions is now available.

  • Through the new mod, Cell (absorbed by Krillin) has been added to the game as a separate transformation slot.

  • Longtime fans may remember Fusion first appearing in the original Dragon Ball Z Budokai game, making the mode a full-circle moment.

While Dragon Ball: Sparking! While Zero fans are still waiting for the game's first DLC pack to be released, the modding community continues to keep the game alive. What started out as some fairly innocent mods, including turning the game into an AMV, has turned into some incredible creations.

Over the holidays, TheGamer reported how Black Frieza and GT Vegeta have all been added to the game, courtesy of Mods. No, not bitten by a vegetable weasel. Oh, and there were some space maps added as well.

That said, the new mod does manage to add one of the franchise's most infamous fusions to the fold. The cursed creature that is the cell (absorbs Krillin.)

As listed on Nexus Mods, a site dedicated to housing mods for all kinds of games, BlueLoobster has managed to add Cell (Krillin Absorbed) to the game. It counts as a separate conversion slot, and it's glorious as hell.

Longtime Dragon Ball video game fans may recall that this particular mode is a throwback to where the series originally began, Dragon Ball Budokai. In this “what-if” scenario, Krillin sacrifices himself to be absorbed by Cell instead of Android 18. And so, instead of becoming the perfect Cell, he essentially reverts to Cell Jr.

As it turns out, it was all just a bad dream by Cell during the waiting period before the Cell Games began. Bad dream or not, this was one of the many silly adaptations and fusions that the original series was known for, and now it's all made possible in the spiritual successor to it all, AKA Sparking Zero. In many ways, as cursed as the adaptation is, it's almost a full-circle moment for longtime fans.
