However, even in a show like Attack on Titan, there are scenes that make us think it went too far. Whether it's Eren going on a rampage in the final season, Levi being ambushed by the Titans, or the Titans just eating the last survivors of humanity, the show has always been over the top when it comes to taking things too far.

8 Faye's death
Episode 57: That Day
Fey was Grisha's younger sister and although Attack on Titan had its scary moments, this was one of the worst.
Fay and Grisha grew up in Marley and as Aldean, they were second-class citizens. When two Marlian officers found the two outside their detention area without exit permits, they decided to punish the young Aldians. Grisha, being his loving brother, offered to take the beating for both of them while an officer took Fay away.
Things turned dire when Grisha couldn't find the house after the beating, and two officers reported finding her mutilated body on the riverbank. The truth was revealed seven years later, when Grisha joined the Restorationists. Here we learn that Fay has been feeding the dogs alive. Needless to say, for a show about Titans, this was definitely one of the worst.
7 Death of Hans
Episode 37: Shout Out
Ever since the fall of Val Maria, Hannes has been guilty of not saving Carla, Eren's mother, from Dinah Fritz's Titan. In an attempt to atone for his sins, Hannes jumps into the fray to save Eren and Mikasa. Meanwhile, Eren tried to activate his power by cutting off his hand, but it was unsuccessful.
To Eren's dismay, Dinah Fritz's titan devours Hans, splattering blood on Eren's face. It was one of the most gruesome deaths in the series. What made it worse was that Hannes' sacrifice bought them a few seconds of peace, and all Eren could do was mourn another sacrifice gone in vain.
6 Mikasa's first kill
Episode 6: The World The Girl Saw: The Struggle For Trost, Part 2
Considering Mikasa's childhood, it's no surprise that she grew up strong and selfless. The worst of his past is when he and Eren are about to be killed as children by a group of smugglers who operate in the Capitol's underground.

The hero doesn't always win.
The smugglers had already killed Mikasa's parents, and Eren was about to die as well. Left with no choice, Mikasa picked up a knife and killed the men with a scream. It was one of the most heartbreaking scenes, especially because of its direction. Safe to say, however, it left an imprint on Mikasa's personality that eventually made her the person needed to make serious decisions.
5 Death of Marco
Episode 13: Primal Desire: The Struggle For Pride, Part 9
It's one thing to die fighting titans but to be fed to titans by your own friends while unaware of the cause is much worse.
In episode 13, during a mission, Rainer, Annie, and Bertholt discuss their true identities as Titans when Marco overhears them. Realizing that their mission is in jeopardy, they decide to silence Marco in the most tragic way possible.
Reiner stops Marco as he struggles and orchestrates his death so that the Titan eats him. Marco's screams as he tries to make sense of what is happening create such a terrifying scene that even Anne and Berthold question their choices.
4 Mike meets the Beast Titan
Episode 26: Beast Titan
Episode 26, this was one of the best episodes of the show. Mike was one of humanity's strongest warriors, tasked with scouting the 57th expedition within the Wall Rose. But his team was overwhelmed by the Titans. Mike fights valiantly, defeating several Titans before seeing the Beast Titan, which looks unusual.

Mike was so horrified by the situation that he couldn't even speak, and upon seeing that, JK, the Beast Titan, grabbed his gear and walked away, leaving Mike defenseless against the other Titans. Before leaving, Zeke orders the other Titans to move forward, and we see Mike get eaten as he stands there dejected. Although on the surface level, it doesn't seem so bad, seeing Mike's personality and hopes shattered even as he regains consciousness completely shocked us.
3 Grisha kills the Race family

He transformed into an Attack Titan and killed everyone, including the children, and ate the Founding Titan. It is later revealed that Grisha was actually reluctant, but that Eren planned this to ensure that the Titan's founding powers were given to him.
2 Attack Titan vs War Hammer Titan
Episode 65: War Hammer Titan
From the beginning, Eren is shown as a great hero in Attack on Titan. Although he had moments of folly and ambition, it was clear that he would seek humanity's revenge against the Titans.
But then Attack on Titan took a turn. After learning the history of the Titans and what had happened to Marley, Eren's goal shifted to protecting not only humanity from the Titans, but the Aldians from the world.
This became most notable when Willy Tybur declared war on Paradise, and Eren transformed into an Attack Titan to defeat the War Hammer Titan. Here, we see how far Eren was willing to go to achieve his goals, killing hundreds of innocent Marleyans, completely unscathed. For the first time, it led to the question of whether it's time for us to stop looking at Eren as a hero. It was one of the most violent scenes in the series, especially because of the philosophy behind it.
1 Sacrifice of Ymir
Episode 80: From you, 2,000 years ago
Power makes people do things that titans won't. In the ultimate sacrifice, Ymir gave himself to save Fritz. As the Titan's power can only be passed on by eating the Titan, Fritz orders Ymir's daughters to eat him. This is to eventually lead to 9 Titans.
This scene was so terrible that it wasn't even animated and only a few glimpses were shown. Fritz's soldiers cut Ymir's corpse into pieces as he recklessly pushes his daughters forward to eat their mother's remains.
Although not directly shown, the sound effects gave us an accurate idea of what happened and we won't lie, we're glad they did it.
