These forms either allow characters to greatly improve their combat abilities or, in more extreme cases, grant them access to abilities that can alter reality entirely.

Koenma's adult form is interesting but not powerful
Known and revered as the ruler of the spirit world, Koen appears as a small, well-dressed infant who is always seen holding a pacifier in his mouth. As he himself admits, he is a physically weak fighter, whose main threat comes not from strength but from the overwhelming magical energy stored in his favorite accessory over the centuries.
During important battles, the Spirit King could shed his infant form and change his body to that of a young man. This form, while visually impressive, does not alter his abilities in the slightest, as his powers only reside within his pacifier. As such, it is objectively the weakest conversion in the series, with no overall effect on the user.

Genkai can temporarily return to his prime
One of the most iconic and beloved mentors in anime, Genkai is an old, pink-haired woman whose mastery of soul energy was second to none. By channeling his energy into every cell of his body, Genkai's body will be transformed into his prime, completely changing his appearance and greatly increasing his overall abilities. The younger Toguro's body can become a living weapon
Once a great and disciplined martial artist who lost all of his students to a demon attack, young Toguro became a disgusted and self-loathing man whose only desire was to find someone strong enough to take him down. The Yusuke Mazoku form is objectively the most powerful
The Majoku are a rare and extremely powerful race of monsters known for their power to annihilate entire armies. Tapping into his Majoku heritage, Yusuke transforms into a long-haired monster with intricate tattoos covering his entire body. In addition to making him look extremely intimidating, this form increases his strength, durability, agility, and spirit energy mastery by several degrees. Yusuke was nowhere near invincible when using this technique, but he was one of the strongest Yu Yu Hakusho characters.
