was officially introduced a piece Chapter 1159 On September 8, 2025, the Davy Clan is a legendary group of people from the Zero Century time period. It is believed that long ago, the Davy Clan ruled the world in one piece, Davy D. Jones as King. The Davy Clan was led by none other than Davy Jones, who is said to be one of the most prominent figures in the history of the One Piece world.
The Davy Clan's influence on West Blue is most evident in the Elbaf arc, in which Blackbeard is said to be its last known survivor. However, a fellow Straw Hat pirate may also hold key connections to this clan, and this person is none other than the musician that the ongoing Asperia Kingdom flashbacks are currently focusing on – Dead Bones Brook.
Why Brooke and Raven might be from the Davey Clan
Brooke, the musician of the Straw Hat Pirates, is officially known as Monkey D. joined Luffy a piece Chapter 489, titled “The 8th Member,” was released in Shuisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump issue #13 on February 25, 2008. Since then, Brook has been an integral part of Luffy's team and has helped him in any way possible. When Brooke is first introduced to us, her past is revealed to be connected to the Rumber Pirates. 52 years ago, this crew sailed the Grand Line, only to eventually perish. Brook was revived by the powers of Yomi Yomi no Mi, which he ate at an unknown time, and became the only member of the crew to be brought back to life. After this revival, Brooke was missing in the Florian Triangle until the Straw Hat Pirates finally rescued her and brought her on board.
“The Thriller Bark once came to West Blue from our homeland. Perhaps they will rest well on our home soil.” – Brooke explains the importance of West Blue
Brooke's backstory that was revealed in the Thriller Bark arc spanned chapters 486-488, and while this backstory was vast, it didn't really cover Brooke's original past. The Elbaf Arc sheds significant light on Brook's backstory, beginning with chapter 1183 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #26 dated May 25, 2026. In the Esperia Kingdom flashback, Brook's past was properly shown to us for the first time, and it was clear that the boy who didn't have the name of his parents didn't see anything.
“Father and mother and little brother, we are all starving and skin and bones. How am I alive? Eat toads to live!” – Brooke mentions her family briefly, one piece chapter #1184
As an orphan, Brooke had nothing going for him. That said, one thing that is immediately clear from his character design is Marshall D. He resembled a child version of Tech, who was officially seen in God Valley in September 8, 2025, WSJ Issue #41 in One Piece Chapter 1159.
The similarities between Brooke and Tech are rather uncanny. Both sport afros, both have similar facial features, such as lips, eyes and eyelids, and at first glance, the two almost look like siblings. Another interesting similarity between Brooke and Blackbird is that they both belong to West Blue. While Blackbird lived in the God Valley with the rest of the Davy Clan, Brook came from Asperia, another kingdom on the same sea, which met the same fate. Brook's parents, as well as his siblings, are being hidden by Eiichiro Oda, adding fuel to the fire that connects him to the mysterious Davy Clan of a fragmented world.
In fact, Brooke isn't even the only member who could potentially be from the Davey Clan. Just one look at King Reuven of Asperia tells us that he also bears a striking resemblance to the members of the Davy Clan of God Valley. King Reuven was a powerful ruler in West Blue, and by the look on his face, he was Rox D. Jabek, as well as looks very similar to Rux's parents, was officially revealed in One Piece Chapter 1162.
It appears that West Blue has a strong influence of Davy Clan members, which may be why many of the islands have been lost over the years. This may also explain why Emu sent the Marines and the World Government to destroy Asperia and why the Celestial Dragon arrived on the island long ago, which was confirmed in Shuisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump issue #29 on June 14, 2025 in One Piece Chapter 1185.

One Piece prepares for a sad day with the Hiatus announcement on July 5th
The One Piece anime is going on a hiatus very soon, marking a sad day for the series.
Why the Davey Clan is scattered like the Dee Clan
The Davy Clan is scattered across the world in one piece, with only a handful surviving. A large majority of this clan settled in Bhagwan Valley, and 38 years ago, they met their end. Rocks d in Garling's hand. After Jabek's death, the entire island sank to the bottom of the sea, meaning that all of Rox's family also drowned there. The only people who managed to escape from the God Valley were Aeris, who was originally from another clan, and Tek, who became the last known survivor of the Davy Clan.
“Unconnected countries turn into lawless wastelands, don't they? I heard another country was destroyed in West Blue!” — Esperia People, One Piece Chapter #1185
That said, given the existence of a Davy population in West Blue for centuries, it's not uncommon to consider that some members were hiding out on different islands, and Asperia could easily be such a place. This is especially meaningful, since Asperia was destroyed and wiped off the map, as confirmed by the Brook Inn. a piece Chapter 1183, officially released in Shuisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #26 on May 25, 2026. It makes a lot of sense for members of the Davy Clan to be scattered around the world, especially since they are persecuted and hunted by the government. Perhaps Brooke's family had strong ties to the Davy Clan and went into hiding in Asperia, eventually giving birth to Brooke, who may also be from the same clan.

Brooke and Blackbird may hold a major connection in the final saga
Besides the similarity in physical appearance and place of origin, there are other things that connect the brook and the blackbird. For one, Brooke and Blackbeard have Devil Fruits with similar names. Brooke has Yomi Yomi no Mi, while Blackbeard has Yami Yami no Mi. The former Devil Fruit allows Brook to return from the dead, while Blackbeard's Devil Fruit allows him to control darkness. Both abilities connect to the darkness of the underworld in one way or another, which is an interesting connection between the two.
Their benefactors are also somewhat connected and look very similar. For Blackbeard, it was none other than his father, Rax. For Brooke, it was King Reuven. Furthermore, both characters share a very similar, very interesting connection with whales. Brook bonds with Leboon as he travels with the Straw Hat Pirates, while Blackbeard is accompanied by none other than Whitebeard, who travels atop Moby Dick, another whale, completing another clever connection between the two by Eiichiro Oda.
It seems that in Brook and Blackbird, Ichiro Oda could potentially be portraying two sides of the same coin. While both were persecuted, Brooke grew up to be carefree, while Blackbird grew up with rage and fire for the whole world. Perhaps a meeting between Brooke and Blackbeard could happen in the future, where they discuss their birth within Davy's line, and that would surely be an incredible development for all fans to enjoy.
