Dojutsu has always been a big part of Naruto series, and has played an important role in the story since their official introduction with the Sharingan in Naruto chapter #12 on January 8, 2000 in Shuisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #2. Since then, these eyes have only become more important, and by the end of the Naruto series, there were several introduced by Masashi Kishimoto, with one gaining more power than the other.
That said, the Rinnegan, known as the Divine Eye that formerly belonged to the Sage of the Six Paths Hagoromo Otsutsuki, was the strongest dojutsu. Mangekyo Sharingan is one of the strongest form of eyes that was first introduced Naruto Chapter #142 in Shuisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #46 dated October 28, 2002. This eye is an evolved form of the Sharingan that awakens due to trauma caused by the death of a close loved one. The first person to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan in the recent history of the Naruto series was none other than Madara Uchiha, along with his brother Izuna Uchiha who also awakened this power.

After them, Itachi Uchiha was shown to use this immense power Naruto series, and even Sasuke Uchiha went on to evoke it. Each Mangekyo Sharingan grants the user a unique ability. In most cases, each eye of the Mangekyo Sharingan provides a specific ability and ultimate ability known as Susanoo.
Recently, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes In Chapter 20, which was officially released on March 20, 2025 in V-Jump Issue 5, Sarada Uchiha revealed the power of her Mangekyo Sharingan for the first time. This Mangekyo ability is known as Ohirume. Simply put, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan ability allows her to produce four powerful black holes. The size and power of these black holes can be controlled by Sarada as per her will. On top of that, Sarada can freely control what is attracted and what is repelled by the black hole's gravity. The force of gravity is such that even people of Ōtsutsuki level like Shinju cannot resist it and are immediately crushed inside.

in Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes In Chapter 21, which was released on April 20, 2026, in V-Jump Issue #6, Sarada Uchiha used this power to completely destroy Ryu in battle. In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 31, Sarada Uchiha tapped into Ohirume's power to crush nearly twenty clones of Mamushi at once, demonstrating the incredible crushing power of this dojutsu. Compared to Sasuke Uchiha's Rinnegan, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan is much better. Sasuke's Rinnegan ability, called Amenotejikara, allows him to exchange places with anything or anyone, or two things within a certain range, to exchange a certain number of places. This dojutsu is strong but a complementary ability that allows Sasuke to surprise his enemies. However, compared to Ohirume, it lacks in terms of power, which strengthens Sarada's Mangekyo.

The Boruto series has seriously underplayed the power of the Rinnegan
There is one very important distinction that needs to be made when comparing Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan to the Rinnegan. Simply put, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan is very strong, but it cannot be compared to the original Rinnegan from the Naruto series. In Naruto, the Rinnegan had several abilities known as the Six Paths Powers.
These powers made individuals almost god-like figures who could essentially rule over life and death. However, it should be noted that in the Boruto series, the Rinnegan is severely disabled by Mikio Ikemoto. The original six path powers of the Rinnegan are rarely used. As such, Sasuke Uchiha never uses the power of the Six Paths making him God-like and also opening the paths for him to abilities such as immortality and reincarnation, as he states in Naruto Chapter #696. Due to the soft nature of the Rinnegan, which practically only allows Sasuke to use two specific techniques, namely space-time ninjutsu that opens portals and Amenotejikara, this eye is officially inferior to Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan.

Sarada's next Mangekyo Sharingan upgrade will put her in the Nerfed Rinnegan
Interestingly, Sarada Uchiha's development is not complete in the Boruto series. Now, Sarada is facing the consequences of Mangekyo Sharingan overuse. Ohirume's power is comparable to Rinnegan power, and due to this super powerful nature of her eyes, blindness is hitting her harder than ever, as confirmed by Sakura Haruno in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34 on May 20, 2026. Sharda has to find the way of Sharkey along with Sharkey.

More than that, there are other abilities of Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan that have not been unveiled yet. As is the case with most Mangekyo, each eye offers a unique ability. In Sarada's case, only one ability has been demonstrated so far, meaning her requested Sharingan's other powers will be shown later down the line. What's more, Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan aka Susanoo's ultimate ability is yet to be revealed in this series. This power would debut later in the series, and while equipped with the incredibly powerful Ohirum ability, this Susanoo is capable of surpassing all existing Rinnegan powers in the world, including Naruto's, if used correctly.
In the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kakashi Hatake, wielding the dual Mangekyo Sharingan, was able to defeat Kaguya and prove that the Rinnegan could essentially be overcome with just the Mangekyo Sharingan alone. Sarada can do something similar with her eyes, if Ikemoto handles the character well, and it's something we look forward to seeing in the future.
