Gaining access to a new weapon in a good arena shooter isn't just unlocking a shiny new way to dispatch enemies, it's unlocking something that can advance the flow of moment-to-moment gameplay. What to expect from Xbox Game Pass in 2025

2024 has been a good year for Xbox Game Pass, and if everything goes to plan, 2025 could be an even bigger year for the subscription service.

Weapons that should return in Doomsday: The Dark Ages (and how they can be reworked to fit a medieval aesthetic)

Gauss Cannon

Introduced in 2016 doom Reboot, the Gauss Cannon is an incredibly powerful plasma-based weapon that fires precise bolts of energy. The Gauss Cannon can also enter “siege” mode when modified. This mode forces players to stay still with the cannon while charging, but it fires a very powerful beam that can penetrate multiple enemies.

While Doom: The Dark Ages Seemingly already an accurate bolt-thrower with its stake gun, a reworked version of the Gauss Cannon could still hold a valuable place in the game's arsenal, perhaps if it is honed in on the penetrative ability of the 2016 version.

Ballista

Introduced in destruction eternal As a replacement for the Gauss Cannon, the Ballista is an obvious choice Doom: Dark AgesIt already resembles medieval weaponry, and has had scholarly associations with it doomAncient Sentinel Warriors. Doom: The Dark Ages The ballista doesn't need to do much to fit its dark fantasy theme, it just needs to swap out its Argent Energy bolts for more traditional projectiles.

Rocket Launcher

A staple of the franchise from the very first doom In 1993, some variation of the rocket launcher was required Doom: The Dark Ages. To make it fit the aesthetic of the game, Doom: The Dark Ages Its rocket launcher can act like a grenade launcher, its design being similar to a handheld trebuchet or catapult that fires projectiles in an arc.

Soul Cube

Introduced in Doom 3 And then never seen again, the Soul Cube is a unique weapon that absorbs the life-force of defeated enemies to recharge. Once fully charged, the Soul Cube extends numerous blades and soars into the air, latches onto the target, drains its energy, and returns to the player to restore some health.

However Doom 3Logic suggests that the Soul Cube was an ancient Martian weapon and thus probably not present there. Doom: The Dark Ages' prequel setting, Doom 3 Not really considered canon in the current timeline, therefore Dark Ages is free to put its own spin on the weapon.

The BFG

Perhaps the most iconic doom A weapon of all time, the BFG needs to be inside Doom: The Dark Ages. While the BFG's high-tech design may not fit Dark AgesAn ancient aesthetic game may explain that this is an old model of the weapon.
