Baldur's Gate 3 can be a challenging game to get through. After all, there are a lot of tough bosses in the game that you need to take out if you're going to make it to the end. Also, the game's honor mode is punishingly difficult, even for Baldur's Gate 3 veterans.
So, it's sometimes good to use a clever exploit or two. Since the original release of the title, many of them have been patched by the developers. The following people are still around, though. Hopefully, they will never go away.
Get the Heldusk Armor from Raphael in Act One
Free powerful armor
Helldusk armor is the best in Baldur's Gate 3, and you can get it as early as Act One, but only if you use an exploit. Start by talking to Nettie in the Emerald Grove, as this will make Raphael spawn near the bridge just outside the Blighted Village. When you're near where he spawns, detach your party to put the character back. Then, when the conversation starts with him, switch to another friend and attack him from range. This makes him disappear, setting up another interaction.
When you try to go to the mountain pass, the devil will be in your camp. Hit him with silencing power to stop him from speaking, then attack him mercilessly with non-lethal blows. When he's down, loot him quickly before he disappears. It gets you armor.
Granting yourself unlimited movement speed with the Elk ability aspect
Don't stop walking
Elk's favor is a Wildheart Barbarian ability that grants them and nearby allies an additional five feet of movement speed. If you are one of those allies, you can exploit it.
If you enter the ability's effective range, skip, then enter again, that will boost your movement speed by two. Therefore, you can continue in and out to stack your momentum. All you have to do is make sure you don't venture too far before re-entering, otherwise you'll burn through some of that momentum.
Huddle around a potion and break it to boost the whole party
Give the whole party a treat
No need to take drugs to impress your friends. Simply breaking a potion around your characters can give them the effect of the potion. So, for example, if a lot of characters need healing and you don't have many healing items, you can put one on the floor, have everyone hang around it, and then break the bottle. Everyone nearby will be affected by it.
This can be done with any breaking drug. Of course, it is better to do it outside the fight, as you make a big goal in a fight together with a bunch.
Use smoke bombs without using an action
You need fire
Basically, throwing a smoke bomb at an enemy uses an action. There is a way around it though. If there is an area covered in fire near an enemy, you can drop a bomb on the fire to make it explode.
Naturally, when this happens, you don't want to get too close, so you can drop the bomb, then move into the fire to detonate it. It does not cost any action points. So, if you have a bunch of bombs, you can continue to deal damage with them without actually taking any actions.
Get the Permanent Shadow Blade with Hiring's help
A powerful blade for the early game
The Shadow Blade spell allows the caster to create and equip a powerful purple blade that inflicts psychic damage. This is usually a temporary thing that goes away when you take a long rest. There is a way around that, though, by using one of the game's fantastic hirelings.
Hire a mage, sorcerer, or warlock from Withers, then level three to get them to get and use the Shadow Blade spell. Then, once they get the purple blade, go back to Withers and tell him to cancel your hire. After that, hire the same hire as before, and they'll return with a permanent shadow blade for some reason. It's better than normal because your other characters can equip it, and it lasts after a long rest.
Get what you want from merchants using a Warlock
Free money and items
A Warlock power called Bind Pact Weapon allows you to bind your weapon to your hand. If you do this with an expensive one, you can use it to your advantage. Just trade with a merchant, and place any weapon next to the barter menu. Then pull that same weapon into your hand and swap it with your bound weapon.
This will place your bound weapon in the barter menu, ready to be sold. You can't physically sell it, though, but that doesn't stop the merchant from trying to buy it. Then, you can trade them for money or some of their items with your bound weapon. This results in you keeping their items and weapons where they are.
Steal a weapon from a summon
Get unobtainable weapons
It doesn't work on consoles.
Some summons in the game carry special weapons, such as Devas and various elemental myrmidons. When they are summoned and you check their inventory, their weapons won't be there.
However, while their list is open, you can click the little preview button below them. After you do this, their weapon appears for a millisecond. If you're quick enough, you can grab it, open your inventory while you're still holding it, and put it there. It gives you a unique weapon.
Leave a party member at camp to prevent your team from being wiped out
A friend was left behind
In honor mode, if your entire active party is eliminated, your campaign ends immediately. A little trick to prevent this from happening is to ungroup your party and let one of them stay in camp while the others advance. The person in question must still be an active member of the party, but they can do so from a safe distance.
While this means you can now only fight with three party members instead of four, if three of them are killed, your run isn't over. This doesn't work in every situation, as they are sometimes forced into your location. But it works most of the time, and can help you beat honor mode.
