Final Fantasy 15 may come to Switch 2

At a recent shareholders meeting, Square Enix responded to a question about a possible Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy 15 by saying that it was “under consideration” and not “impossible.”

Although the jury is still out on whether Nintendo has really brought its A-game for Switch 2 exclusives, you can't deny that the console's third-party support has been pretty good so far. Square Enix has undoubtedly been one of the biggest contributors over the past year, notably bringing the massive Final Fantasy 7 remake and rebirth to consoles.

Those two games in particular have made it clear that Square Enix has been able to port most of their big games to the Switch 2, leaving everyone wondering where their favorites are. Final Fantasy 15, the best game in the series for Nomura lovers like myself, is a game many would love to see on the Switch 2, and this is what Square may really be looking at.

Square Enix says it's “not impossible” to get a Switch 2 port for Final Fantasy 15

Whether it means something or what we want to hear is just up to you

As pointed out by Last Weapon, Square Enix was asked about a possible port of Final Fantasy 15 to Switch 2 during a recent shareholders meeting. While some have reported that the question was actually about a remake or a port of Final Fantasy 15. original Switch, others are reporting that it was actually about a port along the lines of what happened in the Final Fantasy 7 remake.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 is far from perfect

The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is unfortunately inferior to its predecessor.

Considering how big FF15 is, though, it's definitely talking about the Switch 2 and not the original. Anyway, Square Enix responded that there are “some hardware constraints” but that it's not “completely impossible” with current hardware and is even “under consideration”. There are two ways you can take this answer, and they depend entirely on how positive you want to be about it.

On the one hand, Square may be up front here and say that a port of Final Fantasy 15 is something the team is considering with the success of FF7 on Switch 2. On the other hand, it could be waved off as a possibility, but not something the team is really thinking about right now.

For now, it's not entirely clear where Square stands with the port of Final Fantasy 15, but I'd like to think that the huge success of both the remake and Rebirth shows that players are interested. After all, the original Switch only got the cute Demake Pocket version, so there's clearly a market of players who have never experienced true Dirty Peak.
