EA hit with more layoffs

EA has been hit with further layoffs, with some affected employees said to have been with the company for ten years or more. Those fired from EA may find it difficult to find more work in the field, as it's been a tumultuous time in the games industry as a whole, with layoffs and closures announced at studios around the world in 2026 alone.

EA Games is shutting down permanently this month

Fans of EA-published games on consoles are running out of time to play one of its games, as its closure is just around the corner.

The number of layoffs at EA is currently unknown, but according to Kotaku, workers have been affected in the United States and India, with a mix of remote roles and personal positions. Affected teams include customer support, IT, recruiting, and more. An email from the department head to the customer support team hinted at the layoffs a week before the move, indicating that changes would be made to “certain roles” that the teams were covering. Reportedly, the move also involves “creating new roles,” so some may have seen some shake-ups while managing to hold onto a job at the company. These aren't the first layoffs at the company in recent history, as EA's Battlefield studio also saw layoffs earlier in 2026.
