It's been a year since Sandfall Interactive launched Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 And to celebrate the game's first anniversary, the developer is releasing a special update with new cosmetics. Even for a debut game by a new studio, it's impossible to predict how much success it will have. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Will proceed to achieve. The game's popularity not only helped it break sales records, but also catapulted the studio to year-end industry awards.
Although fans didn't receive the major DLC that was so desired, Sandfall has continued to release new updates in the months since launch. In fact, after reaching 5 million in sales, the studio released a free update that added a new location Campaign 33 called Verso's Drafts. The new area is aimed at endgame players, with lots of secrets, brand-new enemies to fight, as well as cosmetics to unlock. At the time, most fans thought it might be for new content, but with the game's first anniversary rolling around it seems Sandfall had another idea in mind.
Clair Obscur: Impossible Reddit thread to find lead author for Expedition 33
There are many talented writers in gaming, but not many of them have the amazing story of Jennifer Svendberg-Yen of Claire Obscure.
with the original launch date Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Being April 24, Sandfall Interactive had a little surprise to share with fans. A new update has arrived for the game, and it includes a new set of cosmetics for the main characters, especially the first anniversary haircut. Interested players can get Gustav's anniversary haircut at the Gestral Merchant near the Stone Wave Cliffs. For the rest of the cases, Verso, Maelle, Line, Sciel, and Monaco, players will have to visit the Gestural Merchant near the Grosse Tete location on the world map to pick up the new hairstyles.
The patch itself also includes some fixes and other adjustments to the game, but overall is a minor update in general. These include collision detection fixes, adjustments to achievement text, and issues related to opening a break point while dialog is running. The update also noted an issue with Sciel and Lune's Danseuse outfits, specifically the lighting in them where white parts were overly bright while other parts were too dark. As Sandfall calls it, Prakash made the character menu “too obscure.”
Despite the large amount of success, Sandfall Interactive ultimately decided to let the story stand on its own rather than continue to add to it. Fans undoubtedly wanted more, but Sandfall has repeatedly stated that it has no plans for major DLC or expansions. Campaign 33. As it stands, Verso's drafts are probably what fans are going to get.
What's more, this could very well be the last update, at least in terms of new content. Sandfall has already confirmed that work has begun on a new game, so it's likely that most, if not the entire studio has moved on to that project, especially considering that the company has no plans to expand in size. For now, the studio remains tight-lipped about what it's working on and whether the team will return to the world of Expedition 33 or start with something new.
