Fable Age Rating explains how the romance scenes work

Remember bonking NPCs in the old Fable games? You can go with anyone who's willing, and you can even decide to use security or not, but you don't actually see anything. You just get a fade to black and then some ridiculously over-the-top sex dialogue. It was all too slapstick, too silly, too British.

Now, it looks like getting down and dirty with our partners — or just randos from the street — will do the same in the new Fable reboot. Judging from the game's ESRB description, the “romance scenes” will be acts of low passion, and more like some quick hanky-panky between quests, with some really fable dialogue to go along with it.

Here are the funny voice lines we'll hear as we get down and dirty in the story

An imaginary figure stood with his hands on his hips

According to Fable's ESRB description, we will be able to “flirt and engage in sexual relations” with various NPCs, although “sexual acts are not depicted.”

This means that we are fading to black when playing the “suggestion/sexual dialogue”. And yes, the page includes some examples of what we're going to hear.

  • “I like … good shag”

  • “I'm hurting in all the good ways”

  • “That hand print on your neck is nice”

  • “You're a scumbag, and I love it.”

In other words, we are far behind.

Since the last Fable game, sexual content in games has come a long way. Look at what you can get up to in games like Baldur's Gate 3, and you'll see that gaming is finally being treated. approx Like other mediums, one can get away with depicting sexual acts without causing too much respect, and moral panic. However, the Fable devs stayed true to the original trilogy rather than making more of it.

On the one hand, it will surely please many fans, who will look for this kind of humor in the game. On the other hand, fables is The past has taken itself seriously in other ways (think back to Rose's death in Fable 2, or your partner being potentially executed in Fable 3), and this new game could include intimacy as part of that. We will have to see if there are any serious relationships in the new game, or if it will be all this light.

Fable begins on February 23, 2027.
