The Legend of Zelda live-action movie has finished filming and is set to premiere on May 7, 2027. However, we don't know much about it. Benjamin Ivan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason will star as Link and Zelda, respectively, and parts of the movie will be filmed in New Zealand as The Lord of the Rings. Other than that, everything we know is speculative.
There are some leaks that suggest it features a Breath of the Wild effect, but that could be a stylistic choice for the logo. The biggest clue to the contrary is that we see Link feature in his traditional green tunic instead of the blue of the modern games. Speaking of which, we've seen Link in full gear.
It is dangerous to go alone! Take this
The director of photography, Gyula Pados, reportedly shared an Instagram post featuring an image of the clapper that was likely used during production on the film. Clapper featured concept art of Link in his traditional green tunic with his iconic hat. He also holds a master sword and what could be a Hylian shield behind him.
While this could mean that the movie will be based on one of the classic games like Ocarina of Time, it's worth noting that this is concept art and not a final representation of how the movie will end. Another notable thing about this is the font used in the clapper for the film's production name (Umami). This is the same font used in the BOTW logo.
According to science, voicing the link isn't as problematic as people think
We looked for research suggesting that a voiced link would be a bad idea, but instead found the opposite
While Link's costume looks pretty accurate to what we've seen in the older games, this shouldn't be taken as a definitive indication of which game the movie will follow. That being said, starting with Breath of the Wild will be confusing for new and younger viewers. Shigeru Miyamoto himself said that the Mario movies exist to reach a wider audience, and the same would likely apply to The Legend of Zelda.
