Ubisoft confirms Black Flag has been re-synced and the alcohol loading screen has been retained

After sharing a video that appears to show Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced replacing the iconic intoxicating memory loading screen, Ubisoft has shared a video confirming it's still in the game.

As much as the Assassin's Creed games are beloved, Black Flag is undoubtedly one of the true fan-favorites. Edward Kenway's radically different Assassin Experience has always stood out as one of the most unique games in the series, so much so that it was always the obvious choice for the first remake of the series.

Although there are a few things that have been changed around, especially the combat, most of what we've seen of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced looks like a faithful remake that brings us back to the golden age of the series. That almost seemed set to change after Ubisoft uploaded a short clip that later turned out to be just a poorly thought-out joke.

Ubisoft hasn't changed one of the most iconic moments of Assassin's Creed Black Flag

Drunk Edward is here to stay, and looking better than ever

Black Flag is full of memorable moments, but one that has stood out over the years is when Edward Kenway drunkenly stumbles around the loading screen of the Animus and shakes the series staple. Although really just a slightly different loading screen, it was solid proof that both Edwards weren't your standard assassin, which is why Black Flag is so beloved.

It was naturally assumed that the scene would be back in sync, but that quickly changed after a post from the official Assassin's Creed account. The tweet showed a video of Edward walking through a topsy-turvy loading screen, coupled with the caption “AC Black Flag Resynced Drunk Loading Screen”, fooling some people into thinking the scene had been replaced.

It turns out, though, that initial tweet was just a poorly thought-out joke from Ubisoft, as it apparently realized the panic it caused and sent another tweet with an actual Drunken Edward scene. The new clip, titled Edward_Drunk_LoadingScreen_CORRECT_VIDEO.mp4, confirms once and for all that the moment was thankfully not left out of the remake.

I'm not sure why Ubisoft tweeted the edited loading screen in the first place, but it's pretty clear that Black Flag veterans didn't realize how much they loved that scene. I think, if nothing else, it's certainly known now.
