Where to find Cobalt in Solarpunk

in SolarpunkCobalt ore is a type of metallic ore that can be smelted into cobalt in a furnace. This is a mid-game item that cannot be found on the starting island or any neighboring islands.

To get it, you must first progress through the game and upgrade your airship to level 3. Only then can you reach the island where the cobalt is found. Here's the breakdown.

How to get Cobalt in Solarpunk

in Solarpunk, Cobalt can only be found on the island south of the initial island, accessible via a level 3 airship. This means you have to progress through the game to get to this island and mine the cobalt ore, until you finally unlock the third airship upgrade.

Upgrade the airship to level 3

The tradeboat on the island directly north of the starting island gives you an airship upgrade every fifth trade. Your airship starts at level 1, so to get to level 3, you have to trade 10 times. The following table shows the correct trades you should make:

Watermelon x4	Three watermelons can be found on the island east of the starter island, accessible via a level 1 airship. Use seeds to grow more.
Cotton x12	Five cotton plants can be found on the starter island. Use seeds to grow more.
Wax x20	Bees accumulate wax over time. The recipe for Beehives can be unlocked in the research table.

Copper x32	Copper can be found on the island northeast of the initial island, accessible via a level 1 airship. Reward: Airship Upgrade (Level 2)
Silicon x5	Smelt quartz ore in a furnace to obtain silicon. An infinite quartz ore deposit can be found on the western island of Tri Island, located west of the starting island, accessible via a level 2 airship.
Wheat x10	Wheat can be found on islands east and west of Suru Island, accessible via a level 2 airship.
Cloth x20	Cloth can be made using cotton at the crafting table.
Bread x10	Use wheat to make dough at the crafting table, and then process the dough in the furnace to get bread.

After you upgrade your airship, the travel circle will expand, allowing you to fly further away from the starting island, finally reaching the island where you can find the Cobalt.

Before going on a mining run for Cobalt, make sure you have at least 3 or 4 Iron Pickaxes in your inventory to collect large amounts of ore.

Cobalt's place in Solarpunk

After you upgrade your airship to level 3, open your map and look south of the starting island. The island next to the travel circle is the one where you can find it Endless deposits of cobalt.

Once you arrive, you'll find a cobalt deposit on the north shore of the island (the location marked in the screenshot above). Dig as much ore as you can and bring it to your base. Melt the ore in a furnace, and you'll get cobalt.
