If you’re looking to spend a little bit of idle time out on the waters around Hethereau in Neverness to Everness, consider checking out the fishing mini-game available from plenty of marked fishing spots on your map of the lively city.
Every fishing spot in NTE has its own slew of fish available to catch, and as you gain experience with successfully reeling them in, you’ll level up in fishing in NTE and earn all kinds of rewards for doing so. Head over to your favorite fishing spot prepared with the best rods and bait and cast your line confidently.
How To Fish
Before you can unlock fishing in NTE, you’ll first need to reach City Tycoon level three to get the minigame to unlock. It’s one of several potential Hethereau Hobbies to enjoy between main missions, especially if you need to earn some extra Fons yet for the week.
Once you’ve unlocked fishing in NTE, you can go to any location on your map marked with a small white fishing line icon along the water in the city, which denotes that you can fish there. You can also find them by going into the Hethereau Hobbies menu on your phone and selecting the Fishing option.
When you arrive at your fishing spot, you’ll find a minigame that feels familiar if you’ve ever played an adventure game with a similar minigame type: the gist of fishing is choosing the right rod and bait to lure the best fish in NTE, reeling in by keeping your rod balanced. Better rods can hold more weight and improve line durability, while better bait can help you catch the rarest fish at every fishing spot.
To go fishing, approach your fishing spot and interact with it to cast your line into the water, and wait until you get a bite, which is when you’ll see a green meter appear at the top of your screen, and it moves around quite frantically as your fish tries to escape.
As you may be expecting, you’ll need to keep your line within the green meter’s range until the fish is caught. To successfully catch a fish in NTE, you’ll need to deplete the fish’s stamina by keeping these two lines together. Fish stamina decreases more the longer your lines overlap, and when it reaches zero, you’ll reel in your catch.
Your line wears as you fail to align your meter with the green bar, and your fish will escape if your line breaks.
Fish have four distinct rarities which impact their sale price, ranging from Common fish denoted in green, Uncommon fish marked with a blue background, Rare fish with a fuchsia pink, and the rarest of them all are the Legendary fish demarcated in gold.
You’ll need to gain experience with lower-level rods to catch rarer fish and sell them for Scale Points, which is how you can get better bait and fishing rods at the Fishing Tackle Shop. Rarer fish can only be caught using the most advanced baits and rods, which you’ll get as you level up your fishing skill in NTE. Selling fish consumes City Stamina, so be mindful of which fish you sell and when if you’re getting down to the limit for the week.
The Fish Market Shows Fish With High Sale Prices For The Day
Though you’ll always do well to sell the fish you catch in NTE, you’ll want to be sure you check the Fish Market for in-demand fish, which will change daily to offer you a chance to earn more Fons and Scale Points when you sell the fish listed.
The market’s in-demand fish change daily, so be sure you’re checking the fish that are the most desired each time you go fishing. You can even go right to the best spot for the fish listed from the menu, too.
You’ll only be able to sell two or three of each type of in-demand fish at the Fish Market in NTE, to prevent players from earning too many rewards all at once, especially with the weekly cap on how many Fons you can earn across all activities for the week.
All Fish And Where To Catch Them
In the table below, you’ll find details on where to find every fish in NTE, organized by fishing location.
Any fish marked with an asterisk (*) are exclusive to that location. Most fishing spots in NTE have at least one exclusive catch.
