Grand Theft Auto 6's cover art reveal and pre-order date trailer may have only been 30 seconds long, but it's still racked up more views than the biggest reveals of the month.
As the entire world has become painfully aware of since Trailer 2 dropped over a year ago, the entire world has been absolutely desperate for any kind of news on GTA 6. Despite all the demands for a third trailer and more information, Rockstar has remained completely silent at the time, leaving us to continue to promise Take-Two that there won't be another delay.
That finally changed a few days ago when Rockstar decided to drop a bombshell on GTA 6 fans with an incredibly short trailer that revealed the game's cover art, its main theme, and the rapidly approaching pre-order date of June 25th. Although the trailer is so short it could just be an email, it's GTA 6's biggest announcement on the strength of this month's biggest lipse announcement.
GTA 6's pre-order trailer already has more views than SGF's big reveal
Only one game ahead… for now
As pointed out by Twitter user SynthPotato, Rockstar's official YouTube upload of the Grand Theft Auto 6 cover art reveal has amassed nearly 9 million views since it went live two days ago. That number continues to grow, which is pretty impressive considering the trailer is just over 30 seconds long.
SynthPotato also points out that this view count means that the new GTA 6 trailer has managed to beat the long-running Lord Laufey, who debuted at PlayStation's State of Play showcase. While Synth suggests this makes it the most watched trailer in a stacked month of gaming, that's not really the case.
As we reported earlier in the month after the big Summer Game Fest showcases had been and gone, there was one trailer that surprisingly led the pack as the biggest reveal of the season. I'm talking, of course, about Spyro: A Realm Beyond, which was leading the pack with over 10 million views a few weeks ago.
Now, more than a week later, Spyro's next game still stands as the biggest announcement of the Summer Game Fest with a total of 16 million views, nearly double the GTA 6 cover art of the current trailer. Although GTA's strength is clearly very strong, it hasn't been enough to overtake Spyro as the most watched trailer of the month.
